ACC 2025年度 グランティ　筒 | tsu-tsuさんニューヨークへ 

tsu-tsu (ACC 2025) in New York 

 

筒 | tsu-tsuさんがニューヨークにて６ヶ月のフェローシップを開始しました。 

筒 | tsu-tsuさんは、古典舞踊の手習いから得た「筒」という身体感覚を起点に、実在の人物を取材し、演じる一連の行為を「ドキュメンタリーアクティング」と名付け、実践しています。自らの身体の中に他者との対話空間を生む試みと捉えているこの手法を、アメリカ社会において批判的に検討し、そこから導き出される多文化共生の新たなモデルを提示することを目指しています。公共政策の研究者や、セラピューティック・コミュニティの実践者らと連携し、同一生年月日の人物を探して演じるプロジェクト等を軸に、「想像による越境」という理想がどこまで現実の課題に迫れるのかを検証します。

tsu-tsu is undertaking a six-month fellowship in New York. 

tsu-tsu has developed a practice called “Documentary Acting,” a process of interviewing real individuals and embodying their lives through performance, originating from the bodily awareness of “tsutsu” (a tube) cultivated through training in classical Japanese dance. Tsu-tsu views this method as an attempt to create a space for dialogue with others within their own body. 
During this fellowship, they aim to critically examine this practice within the context of American society and propose new models of multicultural coexistence. In collaboration with public policy researchers and practitioners of Therapeutic Community approaches, they will investigate the extent to which the ideal of “crossing borders through imagination” can engage with real-world social challenges, centering on projects such as identifying and portraying individuals who share the same date of birth.

演技と共同体を中心とした様々なプロジェクトを展開。2022年から山梨県河口湖に拠点を移し、アーティスト・ラン・レジデンス「6okken」を主宰。近年の活動にドリス・ウーリッヒ「Habitat / Halle E」（タンツククォーター・ウィーン、オーストリア 、2019）への出演、個展「地上」（十和田現代美術館、2023）など。2018年、オルタナティブスペース「F/Actory」（東京・神楽坂）を設立。2019年、文部科学省の助成を受け、欧州・北米10カ国の文化拠点のリサーチを実施。クマ財団クリエイター奨学金5期生。第28回学生CGコンテストアート部門最優秀賞、「やまなしメディア芸術アワード2023-24」山梨県賞受賞。

tsu-tsu 
tsu-tsu is an artist whose practice centers on performance and community-based projects. Since relocating to Fujikawaguchiko, Yamanashi Prefecture, in 2022, they have directed the artist-run residency 6okken. Their recent work includes a performance in Doris Uhlich’s Habitat / Halle E (2019) and the solo exhibition On the Land at Towada Art Center (2023). They founded the alternative art space F/Actory in Tokyo in 2018 and conducted cultural research across Europe and North America with support from Japan’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology in 2019. They are a fifth-term recipient of the Kuma Foundation Creator Scholarship and a recipient of the 28th Student CG Contest Grand Prize and the Yamanashi Prefecture Award at the Yamanashi Media Arts Award 2023–24.

SHAO Chun in Japan

 

シャオ・チュンさんは、マルチメディア・インスタレーション、電子テキスタイル、ポスト・インターネット・アート、デザイン・フィクションなどの領域で創作活動を実践しています。近年は、伝統的な手工芸とコンピュータ・プログラミングを組み合わせた実験的な作品やリサーチを通して、デジタル化が進む現代生活における新たな美学を探究しています。
日本でのフェローシップでは、手工芸を中心としたものづくり、空間美、禅の思想などを学び、精神性、技術、自然素材の間にある詩的なつながりを探ることで、日本の美意識である「わびさび」の概念を研究します。また、自然素材を扱う伝統的な手仕事の技術を学ぶことで、環境に配慮した素材を取り入れたコンピュテーショナル・クラフトの実践を発展させ、「デジタル・インティマシー」の概念をさらに探究します。こうした職人技と儀礼的な精神性の結びつきを、現代アートにおける新たな表現へと展開することを目指しています。

SHAO Chun’s creative practice includes multimedia installations, e-textiles, post-internet art, and design fiction. Her recent research and experimental works combine traditional handicrafts with computer programming, exploring the new aesthetics of interaction while reflecting on our digitalized life.　
During her fellowship in Japan, Shao will study Japanese craftsmanship centered on handcrafts, spatial aesthetics, and Zen, exploring the poetic connections between spirituality, techniques, and natural materials in relation to the Japanese aesthetic of “wabi-sabi.” She will also learn traditional techniques for working with natural materials to further develop her practice of computational craft incorporating environmentally conscious materials and deepen her exploration of “digital intimacy.” Through these experiences, she aims to transform the connection between craftsmanship and ritualistic spirituality into new forms of contemporary art.

中国杭州を拠点とし、伝統的な手工芸とコンピュータ・プログラミングを組み合わせ、マルチメディア・インスタレーション、電子テキスタイル、ポスト・インターネット・アート、デザイン・フィクションを制作している。2010年に中国美術学院で学士号、2013年にシカゴ美術館附属美術大学でパフォーマンス・アートの修士号、2019年にワシントン大学のCenter for Digital Arts and Experimental Mediaで博士号を取得。主な個展に、Macalline Center of Art（2022年、上海）、Jack Straw New Media Gallery（2018年、シアトル）がある。また、シャルジャ・ビエンナーレ16（2025年）、CHAT（2024年、香港）、X Museum（2023年、北京）、UCCA Edge（2022年）、OCAT Biennale（2021年）などのグループ展に参加。受賞歴に、Jack Straw Cultural CenterによるNew Media Artist Award（2018年）、第19回日本メディア芸術祭の審査委員会推薦（2015年）など。

SHAO Chun 
Based in Hangzhou, Shao combines traditional handicrafts with computer programming in her multimedia installations, e-textiles, post-internet art, and design fiction. She received a B.F.A. from the China Academy of Art (2010), an M.F.A. in Performance from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (2013), and a Ph.D. from the University of Washington (2019). Her solo exhibitions include the Macalline Center of Art, Shanghai (2022), and Jack Straw New Media Gallery, Seattle (2018). She has participated in group exhibitions at Sharjah Biennial 16 (2025), CHAT, Hong Kong (2024), X Museum, Beijing (2023), UCCA Edge (2022), and the OCAT Biennale (2021). Her awards include the New Media Artist Award from Jack Straw Cultural Center (2018) and the Jury Selection of the 19th Japan Media Arts Festival (2015).

Elspeth LEE and Donn HOLOHAN in Japan

 

リーさんとホロハンさんは、素材や制作プロセスへの調査を通じて、地域の知識や技術を建築実践へとつなげる活動を行っています。今回のフェローシップでは、日本各地に残る伝統的な建築技術に着目し、石・土・竹を用いた構法、木組み、船大工の技術などについて調査を行います。各地の職人との交流やワークショップへの参加を通じて、技法だけでなく、それらを支える素材の調達や自然環境、地域文化との関係性について理解を深めます。また、建築家、アーティスト、工芸実践者との対話を重ねながら、地域の素材や環境、文化が建築技術に与える影響を探究し、得られた知見を、文化的遺産と現代のニーズ双方を尊重する持続可能な建築実践へと活かすことを目指しています。

 

Lee and Holohan explore the relationship between local knowledge, traditional techniques, and contemporary architectural practice through their investigation of materials and making processes. During this fellowship, they will immerse themselves in the study of traditional Japanese building techniques, focusing on stone, earth, and bamboo construction methods, timber joinery, and boat-building. Through exchanges with local craftspeople and hands-on workshops, they will gain insights into craft methodologies and the material networks that support these practices. By engaging with architects, artists, and craft practitioners across regions, they aim to deepen their understanding of how local materials, environmental conditions, and cultural contexts shape construction techniques. They hope to apply these insights toward a more sustainable and thoughtful architectural practice that respects both cultural heritage and contemporary needs.

エルスペス・リー
建築家・教育者として、倫理的かつ持続可能なデザインを軸に、保存建築、素材の持続可能性、コミュニティとの関わりを重視した活動を実践している。ユニバーシティ・カレッジ・ダブリンにて建築学修士号および建築科学学士号、アイルランド王立建築家協会にて保存建築認定（Grade III）を取得。現在、香港大学の客員助教授として修士課程のデザインスタジオを指導し、特にアジアの文脈における建築の構築、維持管理、時間性を支える隠れた仕組みに焦点を当てている。

 

ドン・ホロハン
建築家、教育者、研究者、制作者として、建築実践および社会・環境の持続可能性との関係における、先端技術の可能性を探究している。ユニバーシティ・カレッジ・ダブリンにて優等学位として建築学修士号および建築科学学士号を取得し、現在、香港大学の助教授を務めるとともに、RMIT大学博士課程に在籍。アーツ・カウンシル建築助成金、Design Trust Seed GrantおよびFeatured Grantの支援を受け、2023年にはEuropean LINA Fellowに選出された。

 

Superposition
ドン・ホロハンとエルスペス・リーが共同設立した実験的建築スタジオ
2015年に設立されたSuperpositionは、場所、素材、コミュニティによって形づくられる、倫理的かつ持続可能な建築のあり方を探究している。既存の建設モデルに問いを投げかけ、建築を協働と交渉のプロセスとして捉え、地域の素材、労働、職人技、コミュニティと関わりながら、新たな制作・構築の方法を開発している。これまで、香港PMQ、デザイン・ミュージアムの「Beazley Designs of the Year」、深圳Design Societyなどで展示を行ったほか、2024年には、2025年ヴェネチア建築ビエンナーレのアイルランド館代表候補に選出された。

Elspeth LEE 
An architect and educator, Lee’s work is grounded in ethical and sustainable design, with a focus on conservation, material sustainability, and community engagement. Lee holds a Master of Architecture and a Bachelor of Architectural Science from University College Dublin, as well as an RIAI Conservation Accreditation, Grade III. Currently an Adjunct Assistant Professor at The University of Hong Kong, Lee teaches masters level design studios, emphasizing the often concealed systems of architectural construction, maintenance and temporality within an Asian context.

 

Donn HOLOHAN
An architect, educator, researcher, and maker, Holohan explores the potentials of emerging technology in relation to architectural practice and social and environmental sustainability. He holds a Master of Architecture and a Bachelor of Architectural Science, both with honors, from University College Dublin, and is currently an Assistant Professor at The University of Hong Kong and a Ph.D. candidate at RMIT University. He has received support from the Arts Council Architecture Bursary, Design Trust Seed and Featured Grants, and was selected as a European LINA Fellow in 2023.

 

Superposition
Experimental architecture studio founded by Donn Holohan and Elspeth Lee

Founded in 2015, Superposition explores ethical and sustainable approaches to architecture shaped by place, material, and community. Challenging conventional models of construction, the practice views architecture as a process of collaboration and negotiation, developing new methods through the integration of local materials, labour, craftsmanship, and community engagement. Superposition’s work has been exhibited internationally, including at PMQ Hong Kong, the Design Museum’s Beazley Designs of the Year, and Design Society Shenzhen. In 2024, the studio was shortlisted to represent the Irish Pavilion at the 2025 Venice Architecture Biennale.

「ACC Grantees’ Voices - グランティが語るフェローシップ」開催
“ACC Grantees’ Voices – Fellowship Experiences Shared by Grantees” 

 

 

「ACC Grantees’ Voices」を6月30日に天王洲WHAT CAFEにて開催しました。当日はモデレーターに鷲田めるろさんをお迎えし、キュレーションの分野で活動されている熊倉晴子さん（ACC 2025）と半田颯哉さん（ACC 2024）に、フェローシップ体験についてスライドを交えてお話しいただきました。

 

熊倉さんは、ジョグジャカルタを拠点にインドネシアに昨年３ヶ月滞在し、現地のアートコレクティブを活動のベースとして、美術史や歴史表象に関する調査を行いました。現地の研究者やアーティストとの交流を通して、自身のキュレーションのあり方を見つめ直し、新たな視点や問いを得た経験について語られました。

 

半田さんは、ニューヨークを拠点にアメリカに6か月滞在し、マンハッタン計画に関するリサーチや現代アートシーンの調査、アーティストやキュレーターとの交流を実施しました。ACC同期フェローたちとのつながりや助けによって、フェローシップ活動がより有意義になったこと、そして、帰国後も続く関係性を築けたことや、アメリカで得た学びについて紹介されました。

 

トークセッション終了後には、ACCの活動やフェローシップについてもご紹介いたしました。その後の交流の時間には、参加者同士の交流に加え、ACCアルムナイや2026年度グランティにもご参加いただき、終始和やかな雰囲気に包まれたイベントとなりました。

 

本イベントが、ご参加いただいた皆様にとって、ACC助成プログラムへの理解を深めるとともに、新たな出会いや挑戦につながる機会となれば嬉しく思います。

 

 

"ACC Grantees’Voices" was held on June 30 at WHAT CAFE in Tennozu, Tokyo. Moderated by Mr. Meruro Washida, the event featured Haruko KUMAKURA (ACC 2025) and Souya HANDA (ACC 2024), who shared their ACC Fellowship experiences through presentations with slides.

 

Based in Yogyakarta, Kumakura spent three months in Indonesia last year, centering her work on collaboration with a local art collective and conducting her research into art history and historical representation. She spoke about how her interactions with local researchers and artists led her to re-examine her curatorial practice and inspire new perspectives and questions for her future work.

 

Handa spent six months in the United States, based in New York, conducting research on the Manhattan Project and the contemporary art scene, while engaging with the artists and the curators whom he met there. He also referred to the things that he learned in New York and how his views and ambitions had grown significantly through meetings with ACC fellows from around the world. The connection with them enriched his fellowship experiences and have continued even after the fellowship ended.

 

Following the talk session, we introduced ACC’s activities and Grant Programs to those considering applying in the future. The event concluded with a networking reception where participants had the opportunity to connect with ACC alumni and the 2026 ACC Grantees, in a warm and friendly atmosphere.

 

We hope this event has deepened participants' understanding of the ACC Fellowship Programs and inspired new connections and future endeavors.
