Boys & Girls Club Youth Workers build AHB's 100th boat
A crew of teen youth workers at the Mary Ryan Boys & Girls Club is not just building another rowing skiff this summer. Unbeknownst to them, it is AHB's 100th wooden boat. The teens are building the 12-foot Bevin's Skiff, which will be given to the Boys & Girls Club's Camp Whitcomb Mason.
Coincidentally, this is the second boat to be built at the Mary Ryan Club. Back in 2014, when All Hands Boatworks was just getting started, teens at the Club built boat No. six.
When asked about building their 100th boat in six years, executive director Bill Nimke commented, "I never really thought that far ahead. Building each boat is a little like teaching and mentoring each youth. You just take them one at a time."

I learned the "Skilled Trades Way." |
5th Annual Builders Camp
The 2019 B2L Builders Camp lived up to being the coolest camp during the hottest week of the summer in July!
Forty Milwaukee students, from 6th through 12th grade, took part in the hands-on, minds-on camp.
The Camp continues to showcase "the skilled trades way" for youth and the continued partnership with the Building2Learn Consortium, the Pewaukee Carpenter's Training Institute, and All Hands Boatworks.

Putting talent to work |
AHB teen crew powers our summer programming
This summer, AHB has been able to provide valuable work experiences and mentoring for 12 teens --
its largest summer crew yet!
Nine Milwaukee boys and girls qualified for the seven-week paid Intern program. The Intern crew assisted with summer camps, fabricated "boat kits," repaired leaky boats, and worked on a variety of other summer projects. Two students worked as summer camp assistants. And one teen continued to work as AHB's pre-apprentice, supervising the Interns and even serving as one of the boat-building instructors at the B2L Builders Camp.
