RAFTINGS

Building so much more than a boat

One of the most memorable programs over the past winter was AHB's evening RAFT program with a remarakable group of teen youths from Children's Hospital of Wisconsin Community Services.  Every Tuesday evening, over eight weeks, the teens and their adult mentors gathered at our winter shop to share a meal together and to build two plywood canoes.  The boatbuilding projects and skills development were integrated with much social-emotional learning.

A heart-full thanks to AHB's Tom Haydon and Wyatt Meyer for their skillful leadership and to the staff from Children's Hospital for all of their  coordination and welcomed participation.
