Aloha,

Maui no ka Oi! (Maui is the Best!). Aloha Vacation Rentals is sending this email newsletter to all of its past and potential customers on a monthly basis (or sooner if we see any great airfare deals or we run any vacation rental deals). If you wish to unsubscribe, please do so at the link at the bottom of this email. We will cover getting to Maui and things to do while you are here. First a quote:

“I went to Maui to stay a week and remained five. I never spent so pleasant a month before, or bade any place goodbye so regretfully. I have not once thought of business, or care or human toil or trouble or sorrow or weariness, and the memory of it will remain with me always.” Mark Twain

WHALE WATCHING IS ALMOST HERE!
During the winter months, the North Pacific Humpback Whales return to Maui. There are actually three main populations of these whales and the Central North Pacific stock migrates between Hawaii and Alaska each year. The overall population of these whales had declined to about 1400 by 1966, but due to protection efforts the population is now estimated at about 21,000 Kohala (the Hawaiian word for humpback whale). The adult Kohala weigh about 25 to 40 tons each, while a newborn baby will weigh about one ton. While in Hawaiian waters the Kohala mate and give birth and raise their young.

The best time to see the Kohala is from early November to mid May. West Maui is one of the best places to view the Kohala. You can often view them straight from your lanai or living room.

Better yet take A Pacific Whale Foundation boat out and view them close up. They conduct one of the more informative tours and proceeds help support the foundation's research activities.

You can book the Pacific Whale Foundation tours by contacting our local Expedia activities contact: 808.665.1262 or email mauifun@expedia.com. Let them know Aloha Vacation Rentals sent you.

Eateries
Beach Bums in Napili

This new restaurant in Napili recently opened to rave reviews. It is great if you are looking for a bit of home cooked BBQ with Island attitude.

All meat is smoked on property with Kiave wood and they have an excellent selection of sides.

The prices are quite reasonable compared to typical island prices.

They also have a full bar with local brews as well as pasta/pizza and seafood meals.

Give it a try! We did and we liked it!
