ASB Begins Search for Full-time Director During its BakingTech 2010 conference, ASB formed a
subcommittee to review whether the society should be led with shared leadership
or whether ASB warranted a full-time executive director. The subcommittee recommended a
full-time leadership position which was approved by the Board of
Directors. After two years under shared leadership with BEMA, the
American Society of Baking has begun accepting applications for a full-time
executive director. ASB has been
led in a part-time role by Kerwin Brown, the president and CEO of BEMA, the
Bakery Equipment Manufacturers and Allieds Association, since 2008. “Kerwin has provided invaluable
leadership during these past two years,” notes Rowdy Brixey, ASB’s current
chairman. “Brown was there for ASB when we needed him most.” The Society formed a search committee in April 2010 for
the purpose of accepting and reviewing applications for the new ASB executive
director position. Search
committee members have signed confidentiality agreements with ASB to insure all
candidates can submit their application in strict confidence. Applicants can go to www.asbe.org for information on submitting their confidential
application for the position.
