  • 2011 BakingTech Videos.

The videos of the presentations given during BakingTech 2011 have been posted to the ASB website.  The videos do not include the breakout sessions or the speakers who did not give permission for their presentation to be recorded and posted.  Below is the link:

http://www.asbe.org/displaycommon.cfm?an=1&subarticlenbr=48#2010

To access the videos, you do need to be signed in as an active member.  Feel free to show these videos to your employees or share them with non-ASB members so that they can understand the benefits of ASB membership and the educational value of attendance at BakingTech 2012.
  • 2011 BakingTech Proceedings
The printed Proceedings of the 2011 BakingTech are at the printers and should be mailed by mid-August.  If you indicated on your registration for BakingTech 2011 that you wanted a printed copy of this year's Proceedings you will be receiving a copy.  If you did not attend BakingTech 2011, but responded to one of the emails asking if you wanted a printed copy, you will also be receiving a copy in the mail.

If you want a copy, but you have not notified staff through one of the above methods, please send an email to Amanda Gonzalez at agonzalez@asbe.org, and she will make sure you receive a copy.  We have only a limited number of extra copies, so act fast.

If you have indicated that you wanted a USB of the Proceedings, these will be mailed to you by the end of August.  A limited number of extra USBs will once again be available at BakingTech 2012.

  • Hall of Fame Nominations.
The Hall of Fame Review Committee has decided to update and improve the process for making future nominations.  They have revised the nomination form and the process for making nominations so that more information is provided which will help the committee make more informed decisions.  The new form requests information that coordinates more closely with the criteria that is used by the Review Committee to make the evaluations.

The new Nomination Form is attached: 2012 Hall of Fame Nomination Form.  If you have nominated someone in the past, but they have not yet been selected for induction, you must re-nominate them using the new form.

If you have any questions about the process please contact ASB's Executive Director Kent Van Amburg at kvanamburg@asbe.org or 1.800.713.0462.  Thank you for your continued support of the Baking Hall of Fame and your consideration of the revised nomination process.

  • ISB Conference.
The 1st Annual International Society of Baking Middle East & Africa Conference and Expo will be held December 10-12, 2011 in Muscat, Oman.  The meeting is being held at the Shangri La's Barr Al Jissah Resort & Spa (www.shangri-la.com).  This conference is supported by ASB, BEMA, Baking and Pastry Guild of the Middle East and Baking & Snack.
This conference will present an excellent opportunity for U.S. and international baking companies, manufacturers and ingredient suppliers to develop relationships in the emerging Middle East and Africa baking sectors.  If you have submitted your company as a prospective speaker, please be patient with the process.  Your names and proposed topics have been sent to the Planning Committee.

More information can be found at www.isb-mea.org or on the ASB website www.asbe.org.
Registration for participants and exhibitors will be available in early September.
  • Demographic Survey.
ASB's Board of Directors is meeting in October to develop a Strategic Plan which will guide the Society over the next 5 years.  Some of the issues facing ASB are mergers and acquisitions in the baking industry, the impact of social media and the greying of our membership.  ASB must have a complete understanding of your educational and networking needs if we are to remain relevant to the industry and to keep long-term members, while attracting new members.

You will be receiving a survey from Cypress Research which is part of a larger demographic study that ASB has been conducting to gather the information the Board will need to develop a strategic plan to ensure the vitality of the Society in the coming decade. We need you to complete this survey!

ASB belongs to you, the members.  As a stakeholder, you have an obligation to help make it stronger.  Filling out the survey is a membership duty.  Please take the time and effort as soon as you receive the survey to let the ASB Board know your priorities and your position on issues that will directly influence YOUR Society.  You owe it to ASB - You owe it to yourself.

Thank you.
