Burford Corporation is Promoting ASB Membership - You Can Too!

The Service Technicians at Burford are helping promote increased baker membership in ASB by distributing the "First Year Free Membership" postcards during service calls to their bakery customers.  According to Teresa Ruder, "At Burford, we know the value of having our service technicians meeting face to face with Bakers every day.  We think this is a great opportunity to introduce ASB at the bakery level with the First Year Membership postcards.  Generating interest and possibly new memberships should be a key role of every ASB member."

Helping ASB to increase the number of bakers who are members is in every allied company's self-interest.  More bakers equal more potential new customers to network with during BakingTech and the MarketPlace.  Contact Amanda Gonzalez (agonzalez@asbe.org) to obtain more "First Year Free Membership" postcards.

Executive Director Kent Van Amburg Attends AIB

ASB's Executive Director Kent Van Amburg attended AIB's "All About Baking" August 10-16.  The seminar provides a broad overview of ingredients and processes related to wholesale baking.  Kent spent the mornings in the classroom and the afternoons in the baking lab producing breads, tortillas, batter cakes, doughnuts and cinnamon rolls.

" All About Baking dramatically increased my understanding of the technology and processes involved in modern baking and gave me a greater awareness of the challenges ASB's members face in the production of their products", stated Kent.

Hall of Fame Nominations

The Baking Hall of Fame is an initiative of the American Society of Baking to recognize industry innovation and entrepreneurial spirit.  The individuals selected into the Hall of Fame are recognized for their achievements in organizational growth and development, equipment design and innovation, advancements in ingredient technology and processing or related service to the commercial baking industry.

Nominations for the 2014 Hall of Fame are now being accepted.  If you nominated someone for the 2013 Hall of Fame, you do not have to re-nominate them.  If you completed a preliminary nomination form at the Hall of Fame table outside this year's MarketPlace, please complete the formal nomination.  The deadline for nominations is September 1.

Nomination forms can be downloaded here
