It is more important than ever for your engineers, sanitarians and plant managers to understand the proper equipment, plant, and process design that is fundamental to food safety.  ASB, together with other top food industry associations, is presenting a sanitary design workshop specifically for its members.

  • MarketPlace and Meeting Registration.  Meeting registration forms are available on the website: www.asbe.org.  You can register and pay directly on the website or fax/mail forms with credit card information or a check to ASB Headquarters.  You must have already renewed your membership or do so during the meeting registration process.      

    Registration for the BakingTech 2011 MarketPlace is open.  Exhibitor registration forms and guidelines are on the website: www.asbe.org.  You can register and pay directly on the website or fax/mail the forms to ASB Headquarters.  More than 50% of the TableTops have already been reserved, so don't wait and possibly miss the opportunity to showcase your company and products.

  • BakingTech 2010 Proceedings.  The printed copies of the BakingTech 2010 Proceedings are being mailed today.  If you sent in your order form you should be receiving your copy early next week.  A limited number of additional copies are available if you failed to open your email notices and would like a printed copy.  Contact Amanda Gonzalez at agonzalez@asbe.org.  First come first served.
The Proceedings on a USB will be mailed on December 11.  Again a limited number of copies are available by contacting Amanda.

The Proceedings will be available on the website (www.abse.org) this week. 

  • In Memorial.  Mr. Wayne W. Palmer from Chesterfield, MO passed away on Saturday, November 20.  As he wished there was no funeral or memorial service.
  • Remembering our Deceased Members.  During BakingTech 2011 we will be recognizing our industry friends who have passed away during the previous year.  Please send Kent Van Amburg (kvanamburg@asbe.org) the name and company affiliation of any ASB member who died during the past year.  Names must be sent by December 31 to be included.
  • Consultant Corner.  Are you a baking industry consultant?  Would you like to have your services promoted to the ASB membership?  If so, visit the Consultant Corner on the ASB website and list yourself today.  The cost is only $45 per year and is a great way to market to a large number of potential clients for a minimal cost. 
  • Member Get A Member Campaign.  Do you know three bakers who are not members of ASB, but should be?  Send ASB their names and email addresses and we will send you a $10 Starbucks Gift Card.  To download the contact forms and sample email that you can use to invite them to become members of ASB, please click on the following links: Contact Form and Sample Email.  The ASB member who helps recruit the most new members will receive complimentary registration to BakingTech 2012.  Please email the completed contact form to Amanda Gonzalez, Membership Manager, at agonzalez@asbe.org.
  • Member News.  Have you recently been promoted, changed companies, moved locations or have other news that you would like shared with your friends at ASB?  Send us a succinct email with the details and we will put your message in our next newsletter. 
Please only send us personal news, not company news such as marketing of new products and services.
  • Robert A. Fischer Distinguished Service Award. The Robert A. Fischer Distinguished Service Award recognizes outstanding service and leadership by a member to the Society.  Any member of ASB may nominate a candidate based on the following qualifications.
    • A member of ASB for a minimum of 10 years
    • Regular attendance at BakingTech
    • Served in a leadership or decision making position 
If you would like to nominate someone, please send an email to Kent Van Amburg (kvanamburg@asbe.org) with the name of the nominee, a paragraph explaining why they should be considered for the award and your contact information.

The deadline for nominations is December 31.  The award will be presented during BakingTech 2011.
