"What's New?"
BakingTech Keynote Speaker - Urban Meyer: Head Coach, Ohio State University

Urban Meyer will be speaking during the Opening General Session of BakingTech on Monday, March 4.

Urban Meyer made history in his first season as Ohio State coach, guiding the Scarlet and Gray to only the sixth undefeated and untied season in school history with a 12-0 record and also to a Big Ten Conference Leaders Division championship.  He was named a finalist for three national Coach of the Year Awards - the FWAA's Eddie Robinson Award, the Liberty Mutual Coach of the Year Award and the Paul "Bear" Bryant Coach of the Year Award - for his (and his staff's) efforts to turn a team that had no chance at a post-season into an Associated Press Top 3 team.

Meyer and staff built this unbeaten team that led the Big Ten in scoring and ranked second in rushing by convincing the players the most important thing they could do was win the next game; practice hard, prepare well and simply find ways to win, and by winning the team would realize its 2012 rewards.   And by winning it would honor a senior class that included 13 scholarship players who could have left and played for any bowl-eligible team in the country.

Win is what Meyer's Ohio State team did.  It won dominantly: 63-38 over Leaders Division champ Nebraska; 52-22 over Illinois and 56-10 over Miami.  It won close: 17-16 at No. 20 Michigan State.  It won by good fortune: 29-22 in overtime over Purdue behind backup quarterback Kenny Guiton.  It won ugly: 52-49 at Indiana after leading 52-34 with less than seven minutes to play.  And it won the big one...three of them, in fact: 35-23 at Penn State; 21-14 in overtime at Wisconsin; and 26-21 over Michigan.

Urban Meyer, who is 48, will work his 27th season as a collegiate coach in 2013.
BakingTech Schedule Changes

Sunday Officer's Reception Moved to Tuesday Evening:

The Officer's Reception, which has been held Sunday evening, has been moved to Tuesday evening at 6:30 pm, following the third session of MarketPlace: 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm.  Post conference surveys showed that attendees felt that the Sunday night reception made it difficult to schedule dinners and other networking events at the start of the meeting since the reception did not conclude until 8:00 pm.

Wednesday Morning Closing Session Eliminated:

Time is everyone's most precious commodity.  For the past several years, conference attendees have requested that the meeting be tightened-up so that it required less time away from work and family.  Historically, the General Session attendance drops dramatically from 850-900 on Monday morning to less that 150 on Wednesday morning.  Attempts to keep attendees at the meeting with captivating panels and keynote speakers have not been successful.  It is clear that the vast majority of attendees already depart Wednesday morning.  Therefore, the Wednesday morning session has been eliminated and the final keynote speaker and the introduction of new Officers have been moved to Tuesday afternoon.

Three Days of MarketPlace:

BakingTech's MarketPlace, with over 200 exhibitors, will be held from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.  The traditional TableTop displays provide an even playing field for our Allied Members and promote the development of networking contacts.  Be sure to attend all three days to take advantage of having all of your important business contacts in one place at one time.

Exhibitors: Please note that space is being reserved at a record pace and we fully anticipate selling out again this year.

BakingTech Early Registration Deadline: February 1

The deadline for early registration is quickly approaching.  After Friday, February 1, the registration fees for all attendees increases by $100.  Go to the ASB website at www.asbe.org and register today.
