2016 MarketPlace: You Talked, We Listened

The MarketPlace Committee met at the Hilton Chicago on May 27.  The purpose of the meeting was to address the concerns voiced by our exhibitors, evaluate the MarketPlace and enhance the exhibitor experience for 2016. This is how we are going to do it:
  • Moving from the two exhibit halls to a 40,000 square foot single room with better lighting and the feel of a ballroom.
  • Sunday MarketPlace stays the same: 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm, followed by the Opening Reception.
  • Monday and Tuesday: 4:00 pm until 6:30 pm - Ticketed bar 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm.
  • Rule changes: Limit of 4 employees in each table top (up from 2), companies with different entities can purchase two table tops, side-by-side or back-to-back.
  • Continued rules will be strictly enforced: 36 inch height limit on all table top displays and no free standing banners/displays on the floor.
  • Creation of Conversation Areas for non-booth personnel to network.
The rebooting of the MarketPlace with a change of meeting space, some rule changes and more reasons for bakers to attend will address all of the concerns voiced by our members in the post BakingTech surveys.

The MarketPlace Committee members are: Chairman Scott Fisher, Shick USA; Ashley Gurney, Dawn Food Products; Preston Henderson, Spooner Industries Ltd; Jay Freedman, Bay State Milling; Nick Magistrelli, Rademaker USA, Inc; Dulcie Freymoyer, Reading Bakery Systems; Charlie Heinmuller, Moline Machinery; Kenneth Skrzypiec, Brolite Products, Inc; Matt Stanford, Bettendorf Stanford; Chris Cook, Sensory Effects.

 Obituary for William Fife, Jr.

William Fife, Jr, age 87 of Schaumburg, Illinois, has passed away.  Bill co-founded Mills, Fife, MacDonald Advertising in Des Plaines in 1961.  He was also a member of ASB and dedicated many years to the Baker's Courtesy Club as member, president and secretary/treasurer.  Bill loved life and to him the glass was always half full.  He will be missed by the baking industry.
