Presidential Notes:

The new year has started out with a bang for members and friends of the St. Louis Audi Club!

Our January Board and Membership meetings at Patrick's in Westport were well attended with everyone present helping to build a great calendar of events for the year. Officers were elected as follows: Steve Warren, President; Jerry Hogan, Vice President; Larry Stonerman, Treasurer; Scott Warren, Secretary; and John Palumbo, Chairman. Club events started immediately afterwards with a Collectible Cars and Coffee at Designs in Motion in Chesterfield. Audi Club and Porsche Club members browsed the great assortment of diecast models, books and memorabilia available at DIM while enjoying snacks provided by the clubs. There were also several interesting cars in the parking lot, including a 2014 Corvette C7.

This was followed by a Rolex 24 at Daytona race watch party. Members gathered at Satchmo's Bar & Grill, also in Chesterfield, to enjoy the last two hours of this first race for the new Tudor United Sportscar Championship series. The atmosphere and food were great and the racing, with close finishes in all classes, was even better. With Audi's increased involvement in the GTLM and GTD classes, we are hoping to arrange for watch parties for more races this year. Watch these newsletters for further information.

Over the next few months, our calendar will feature many events that should appeal to many different members. These include family events, like mini golf, float trips and heritage festivals, social events at bars & restaurants, car shows and cars & coffees, driving tours to interesting places and, of course, track events. We even plan to have a formal Christmas party at a great location this year.

Stay tuned in to what is coming up by reading these newsletters, liking our Facebook page, or checking the calendar on our website. If you are a Google calendar user, you can even add our calendar to your favorites by adding "St. Louis Chapter Audi Club NA" to your "other calendars".

We also will occasionally link to an interesting video on our Facebook page, such as the 2014 Audi Superbowl commercial, "Doberhuaua". (You've got to see this one!)

Car Club Swap Meet
Saturday Feb. 1st

Exotic Motors Midwest - 9710 Manchester Road, Rock Hill - Just West of Starbucks

Keith Emery, Service Manager of Exotic Motors Midwest has invited all local car club members (and other enthusiasts) to visit the shop on Manchester Road in Rock Hill (just west of the Cars & Coffee location) on Saturday February 1st for their first Car Club Swap Meet. Whether you Buy, Sell, of just peruse, there should be some great items to see.

Additionally, Exotic Motors Midwest inventories some of the coolest pre-owned exotic and luxury cars available in St. Louis.

If you wish to sell some items at this Swap meet, the Audi Club will have a table available for a few small items, or if you have some bigger items to sell, contact Keith at (314) 561-9766 to arrange for space. There is no charge to sell your items. Set up is at 10:00 am, the meet begins at 11:00 am.

Although the meet will be held indoors, if the weather does not cooperate, the Rain Date is Saturday, February 8th.

Anheuser-Busch's complimentary tour offers visitors of all ages an in-depth look at how some of America''''s favorite beers are crafted, using the finest, all-natural ingredients, by following it through the steps of the brewing and packaging process. Since its founding in 1852 in St. Louis, Missouri, Anheuser-Busch has been perfecting this process, taking pride in producing some of the world’s finest beers, one batch at a time. Those who are 21 and older will then have an opportunity to taste some of our quality products in the Hospitality Room at the conclusion of the tour. Soft drinks and snacks are also available.

While on tour, you will see and learn about the world-famous Budweiser Clydesdales at our historic stables built in 1885. These majestic giants have appeared in some of the most memorable Super Bowl commercials over the years and represent a special part of Anheuser-Busch’s history. Their size and strength will astound you, and the historic stables will make for a great photo opportunity.

You will also explore the rich architecture and heritage of the oldest and largest Anheuser-Busch Brewery, which includes visits to three national historic landmarks. See some of our brew kettles, feel the cool Beechwood Aging Cellars and hear the thunder of bottles and cans flying by on our state-of-the-art high-speed packaging lines. You will also learn about the extraordinary initiatives and practices Anheuser-Busch has in place that allow our breweries to recycle more than 99 percent of the solid waste they generate.

Audi Club Social Night at Lafayette Square

For this month's social, we'll meet in front of the fireplace at 33 Wine Shop & Tasting Bar for a few rounds of the best wines, beers & top shelf liquors available.

Audi Club Current River Float Trip

Leaves from: Steak 'n Shake - 76 S Highway Dr, Valley Park

Celebrate Mothers Day weekend and enjoy a day of canoeing on the beautiful Current River with your Audi friends.

We will leave from Steak 'n Shake at the intersection of I-44 & Hwy 141 promptly at 7:00 AM for a 3-hour drive through Salem to Akers, MO. Our 10 mile float from Akers Ferry to Pulltite will take several hours but should be an easy float due to fast-moving water. The Current River is part of the magnificent Ozark National Scenic Riverways and remains almost as wild and natural as the day Indians lightly trod the Ozark trails.

We have arranged for a special 30% discount rate of $32.20 per canoe for Audi Club members.

Audi Family Day - Mini Golf

Chesterfield Sports Fusion

Our first family activity for 2014 is a day of mini golf, diecast cars and lunch. Cost for mini golf is $6 per person. Additionally, there are lots of other activities available at Sports Fusion, including laser tag, climbing walls, dodge ball, video games and basketball / volleyball. It's a really good time and kids (of all ages) love it. After playing, we'll visit club sponsor, Designs in Motion, located in the same building, before heading to the Fox & Hound for lunch.

Our Audis will be on display in a mini car show while we're inside Sports Fusion and Designs in Motion.

Join your Audi Club friends for an evening of shooting at Stl Sharpshooter in Affton, St. Louis's largest indoor shooting range. Meet at the Pit & Grill inside Sharpshooter for a great BBQ dinner at about 5:30. We'll move to the shooting lanes at 7:00 for 2 hours of open shooting. Cost will be about $30 per lane (as long as we use all 10 lanes) and includes targets, ear & eye protection and gun rental. You'll need to pay for your own ammo.
