St. Louis Audi Club Newsletter - June

Presidential Notes:

Here in St. Louis we're well into Spring, and with Summer just around the corner, the Audi Club calendar continues to feature many great activities.

This weekend, we start with the St. Louis European Auto Show.  This is always a great event.  There may be a few spots availabe if you wish to display your Audi.  Registration at the gate is $35 with all proceeds going to Shriners Hospital.  Even if you don't want to show your car, be sure to stop by anyway.  Many great European Cars will be pn display and the club will have a display near the show's presenting sponsor, Bommarito West County Audi.  We'll have club info and Raffle tickets availble.

Additionally, the show committee is looking for a few more volunteers to help everyone get parked in the morning.  If you can help, Stop by the registration table before 8:00am.

Next week, we'll take our first road trip of the season to Warm Springs Ranch near Boonville, MO.  This is the new Anheuser Busch Clydesdale breeding facility.  Check below for more information.

Later this month, our social night will be at the Fox & Hound in Chesterfield, convenient for our West County & St. Charles County members.  Cars & Coffee is back for this year's third installment and, as usual, will be at Starbucks in Rock Hill.

Since the first of the year, the Audi Club NA, St. Louis Chapter has continued to grow, adding a few new members each month.  Additionally, we've had prospective members at every event this year.  This bodes well for our little car club.  But we need everyone's help.  Let's keep spreading the word.  Invote your friends to check us out.  The road trip to Warm Springs, for example,  will be a great family event,   Social nights are always fun.

We've got some great events coming up.  Be sure to mark your calendar and check out what the St. Louis Audi Club has to offer.  I look forward to seeing you all soon.

Since we last spoke....

May saw St. Louis Audi Club members enjoying several club events and preparing for a busy June.

First up was a detailing clinic put on by Saul Davidson of A&G Mobile Auto Detailing and sponsored by Clear Auto Bra.  Saul's hands-on presentation was very informative, showing those in attendance how to correct those little, and not so little, flaws in our cars' finishes.  From removing crud in the paint and minor scratches to proper waxing techniques, Saul demonstrated the correct way to make your car look great.

Several club members helped as volunteers and instructors at the BMW Club's Tire Rack Street Survival School.  Thanks to those and many other area car club volunteers, over thirty teen drivers learned to control their cars in  emergency situations, hopefully, making these students better drivers.

SCCA and BMWCCA will hold three additional Street Survival Schools later this year and will be looking for volunteers at that time.  Watch these newsleters for future volunteer opportunities.

Urban Chestnut Brewing Company hosted our May general membershiop meeting.  Florian Kaplunt, co-owner and brewmaster at Urban Chestnut (and an Audi owner and fan) gave the group an infomative tour of the brewing and bottling facilties of this fast-growing brewhouse.

Ted Richardsn and his newest Audi, a 2001 S4 Avant, made his Audi Club comeback at this meeting.  We had been seeing more and more of Ted until his previous car, a beautiful Black S4, was destroyed in a traffic accident last year.  Welcome back Ted!

Cars & Coffee was again a great get-together with drivers of nearly 150 cars of all makes getting together for early morning conversation.  If you haven't made it out to a C&C, you are really missing a great "car show".

So far, 2013 has provided members with many great opportunities to enjoy the company of many like-minded people, have fun with our cars, and in general, Celebrate everything Audi.  The remainder of the year promises even more.
