Presidential Notes:
2014 has been a great year here at the Audi Club NA - St. Louis Chapter. Our membership numbers continue to grow and more old and new members regularly come out for our great drives, food, fun and other activities. As a chapter, I believe we are on the right track. For the rest of the year and in 2015, the last year of my term as President, I will, along with other members of the Board of Directors, do my best to continue to provide these events and activities for your enjoyment.
Don't forget, we still have two great drives, a meeting and a Christmas party on this year's calendar. I hope to see you at any or all of these.
We are looking for ways to continue to improve communications with the membership. Right now, we send these newsletters monthly with weekly updates on upcoming events plus reminder messages just before an activity. If you signed up for our newsletters but are not seeing them as described, be sure to add "announcements@stlaudiclub.com" to your safe sender list.
Our website includes a "News and Events" blog where we talk about upcoming activites and events. Upcoming events are also posted to the Audi Club's national website. In addition to individual posts, all our newsletters and blog posts are also posted to our Facebook page. We also post upcoming events on Google Calendar as St. Louis Chapter Audi Club NA (You can add our calendar to your "other calendars" list). We are attempting to regain access to our Twitter account and, once we have control, will also post newsletters and articles to our feed.
Anyway, we are always open to your ideas on how we can better communicate with you. If you have any thoughts, suggestions or ideas, please contact me at President@stlaudiclub.com.

Augusta Winery Tour
Sun, Nov 2nd

Meet at: South East Commuter parking lot near I-64 & Hwy 94
Destination: Cedar Lake Cellars, 11008 Schreckengast Rd., Wright City
Join us on November 2nd for the Augusta, Missouri Winery Drive. We will take a short drive through the country to Cedar Lake Cellars. We will gather at 11:00a.m., at the Commuter Parking Lot located at the Southeast corner just off the intersection of I-64 and I-94. There will be a short meeting to pass out maps and go over the route.
Cedar Lake Cellars, near Wright City, features several 1930’s-vintage buildings, a rustic hearth room, a huge covered patio and two lakes on two hundred and fifty picturesque acres. Sunday brunch service will be underway as we arrive and the Lakeside Grille will open at 1:00 pm for your dining pleasure. Cedar Lake features their own wines from Missouri and California, in addition to select wines from around the world, plus a selection of microbrew beers.

The Gimmick Rally is Back

One of our most popular drives is back!
Last year's Audi Club Gimmick Rally was one of the most popular events of 2013, With a great drive and prizes for all, it was enjoyed by all.
This year, Ted Richardson has taken over as Rallymaster and has some great ideas about the route, the gimmicks and the fun, but as expected, is keeping the details secret. He has mentioned that the rally will start at Franjo Speed in Chesterfield, will cover some great roads west of the metro area, and will end at Trailhead Brewery in Old St. Charles. Plan on attending, having a great time, winning some prizes and enjoying a great meal at Trailhead.
So what is a "Gimmick Rally"? A gimmick rally is a tour with a twist. While you are driving some great roads, you will need to answer questions about sights along the way. Some of these answers will determine your route, while others will be scored at the end of the rally and will be redeemed for prizes (and bragging rights!).
If you want to experience this year's gimmick rally, mark your calendar now and RSVP to Ted Richardson.

Audi Club Membership Meeting

Our last board and membership meeting of 2014 will be held at MIke Duffys Pub & Grill in Chesterfield.
Duffy's is known for their St. Louis style pizza and claim the Best Burger in St. Louis Since 1986.
At this meeting, in addition to preparing for our board and officer elections, we will begin work on the calendar for 2015 club activities.
Join us for good food, fun and, well, some business, too.

Audi Club Christmas Party

The Country Club at the Legends, 625 Legends Pkwy., Eureka
This year's Audi Club Christmas Party will be held at the Clubhouse at the Legends Golf Club in Eureka on Saturday night, December 13th.
The cornerstone at the Legends is its 35,000-square foot clubhouse. The colonial clubhouse features several dining facilities including the Lounge for finer dining, relaxing and socializing. A panoramic terrace outside the dining room provides a popular place to relax with a cocktail or just enjoy a breathtaking view overlooking the golf course.
A cash bar wiill be open for cocktails and for dinner, you will choose between Bone in Pork Chop, Parmesan Crusted Chicken Breast or a vegetarian Pasta Primavera. Cost is $25 per person, paid with your reservation.

October Wrap Up

Audi Club Social at Big Chief Roadhouse - October 11th
It was a dark and stormy night....Seems every bad novel ever written has started with this line, but it is appropriate to describe the weather we experienced the evening of our October social. Thanks to that gloomy weather, turnout was a little low. However, the few
that showed up had a great time exploring this historic 1929 Wildwood attraction. The good food and great beer selection helped us have a great evening despite the weather.
St. Louis Metro Cars & Coffee - October 18th
The last Cars & Coffee of the 2014 season was held at Westport Plaza on a beautiful October Saturday morning. Our new location is turning out to be a great one as nearly 300 cars of all makes and models turned out to show and shine. All in attendance had great
things to say about the new venue and expressed their wishes to stay at Westport in 2015.
As cars were leaving the plaza, we experienced our first incident at the new location as a Nissan leaving the plaza spun onto the shoulder of the road in front of
Waterway. The car had moderate damage and the driver was appropriately embarrased, but the organizers want to stress that this is not the place for performance driving, burnouts or just stupidity. Please be safe and have a good time when we next meet for Cars & Coffee in 2015.
Labadie Fall Country Drive and Lunch at the Hawtorne Inn - October 26th
Last Sunday, the St. Louis Audi Club took a lovely country drive and had lunch at The Hawthorne Inn in Labadie, Missouri. The route started in Wildwood and took the club over some of the best cycling roads in the West County area. On a gorgeous, sunny day the club shared the roads with other car enthusiasts,with cyclists, and with motorcyclists.
Anything you order at the Hawthorne Inn is always spectacular but, the flash fried spinach is a house favorite! There isn't a town that gets any more quaint than Labadie. What a perfect Sunday!
