Presidential Notes:

I hope Halloween brought many little monsters to your door last night.  We only had a few, but the costumes were great and their jokes were almost all groaners.  What does a skeleton waiter say to his guests?  Bone appetit.  Ugh!  They still left with many chocolate treats.  Better yet, because there were only a few, we get to eat the remainder of candy from monster bag we bought!

October was a busy month with the Frank Beddor Nationals, Autos on Valhalla, our Social Night at iTap, PCA Driving School at Gateway and the final Cars & Coffee of the season.  Club events will slow in November and December allowing us all to take some time with our families during the busy holiday season, but there are a few important upcoming events.

First on the calendar is the Gimmick Ra
lly.  I have designed this rally to be fun yet challenging.  The roads are generally great (if you like curves and elevation changes) the clues and questions are a little frustrating and our great friends at JML Audio and ET Tuning are opening their doors on a Sunday for us.  You might even get lucky and win a few prizes up to and including a dyno run at ET Tuning.

Next is the General Membership and Board Meeting to be held at the Crafty Chameleon in Ellisville.  Like iTap, Crafty Chameleon serves beers from local brewhouses and from around the world.  Also like iTap, they serve no food.  So either bring your own or order from one of the many local restaurant menus availble at the bar.  In December, we will visit Patricks in Westport for our Social Night.

Our annual election of the Board of Directors will take place online throughout the month of December.  If you are a member of the St. Louis chapter, watch for a notice with a link to the ballot in your email after thanksgiving.

If you would like to get more involved in the club, Pam Browning and the Nominatiing Committee are taking nominations for Board and Officer positions for a few more days.  See the article below for more information.

Audi Club Gimmick Rally
Sunday November 10th
10:00 am

Start from JML Audio 519 Rudder Road, Suite A, Fenton - End at ET Tuning, Union

So, what is a Gimmick Rally?  According to North America Motorsports, A Gimmick rally is a very good way to introduce yourself to the sport of Rally. Normally a Gimmick rally will have some puzzle to solve. Often the contestants must search for answers to questions, which may provide clues to where the rally route goes, and might be answers to questions about signs and buildings on the route. Generally these are low key events where the primary object is to have fun, rather than serious competition. Most, but not all, Gimmick Rallies are won by luck or chance, rather than skill.

Our gimmick rally will start at JML Audio in Fenton, travel the scenic (and crooked) back roads that can be found in our area and end at ET Tuning in Union.  Both JML Audio and ET Tuning will have snacks available and will offer tours of their facilities.

This rally will be a great event for one but will be more fun if shared with a friend.  There will be writing involved and an additional set of eyes to look for clues will make it easier.  Prizes will be awarded.

The urban gimmick rally held by the St. Louis Audi Club several years ago was a lot of fun and was very successful.  We expect this ex-urban gimmick rally, with more sinuous and exciting roads, to be even more fun.

Please RSVP to Steve Warren at president@stlaudiclub.com or 314 894-1541.

 Since we last spoke...

I don't know about you, but I'm glad to finally have time to take a deep breath for once.

The club has been busy all summer and early autumn with over thirty club and affiliated events available to memers since April.  From social nights to driving schools; from car shows to horse ranch tours; from driving tours to skeet shooting, we've had a wide selection of events to enjoy.  Over the next couple of months, club events will take a back seat to family events and the holidays, but we aren't going away.

I hope to make my second year as president of the St. Louis Chapter a memorable one, and not for negative reasons.  With the club's and Audi of America's new member engagement program I believe we'll have more dealer-based events while your board members and I will continue to provide you with many other club sponsored experiences.  We will continue to work with other local car clubs to provide additional opportunities for you and your Audi Club friends to enjoy your Quattro.

If you'd like to get more involved as a member, consider joining the board as a director or committee member.  If you are not yet a member, or your membership has lapsed, join or rejoin the club to receive all the benefits of club membership, including discounts, reduced-cost insurance and the member loyalty program.  Check the main page of our website for more information.

October saw many opportunities for members to enjoy their Audis and their club friends.  Starting with the Audi Club Frank Beddor Nationals in Nashville (If you attended, please share your experience), and Autos on Valhalla Car Show, which featured over fifty cool cars of all kinds and theraputic hormanship demonstrations by Ride On St. Louis, the show's chosen charity; continued with our social night at iTap, and the PCA drivers ed at Gateway; then ended with the best Audi showing at Cars & Coffee in recent memory.

The picture below, from Cars & Coffee, shows several of the Audis in attendence and has to be the first time I've seen five generations of S4s (B5, B6, B7, B8 & B8.5) together at one time.

More Upcoming Events.
We hope to have a full calendar of events this year but we will need your help to make that happen.  All our social events and meetings are open to everyone, member or not.  However, you will have to be a member to participate in drives or track events.

Membership has its rewards.  ACNA offers many additional benefits, including $500 Member Loyalty Bonus, Brooks Brothers Corporate Membership Card, Office Supply Savings at Office DepoAdditionally, some local dealers offer discounts on parts and service to members.  Become a member today.
