St. Louis Audi Club Newsletter
October

Presidential Notes:

We just returned from another great event, and although those of us in attendance had a great time, I am still dissappointed that so many of you missed another chance to excersize your Audis and enjoy the friendship fostered by the Audi Club.  Don't miss out; participate and see what this club is all about.

Over the next few months we have quite a few upcoming events of all types.  From Social Nights, Cars & Coffee, Car Shows and Track Days
, to a Gimmick Rally, and the GMP Oktoberfast, you have plenty of opportunities to check out the club.  Give us a try!

If you would like to get more involved in the club, Pam Browning and the Nominationg Committee are taking nominations for Borad and Officer positions.  See the article below for more information.

Autos on Valhalla Car Show
Sunday October 6th
11:00 am - 2:00 pm

Valhalla Cemetery, 7600 St. Charles Rock Rd. St. Louis

Bring the family and join area car buffs for a fun gathering of classic and contemporary automobiles at a beautiful venue.
This event will be held rain or shine in the beautiful surroundings at Valhalla Cemetery.  Like the country’s most prestigious car shows, Pebble Beach and Amelia Island, the cars will be displayed on grass - the only show in the St. Louis area to do so - arrayed on rolling hills surrounding a beautiful lake.  Our judges will present Unique Awards for categories unlike those of any other auto show you have attended.  Food, drinks, music and the company of your fellow automobile enthusiast’s will round out the day’s activities.  Autos on Valhalla is open to classic and contemporary American, Asian and European Autos.

Tours of Valhalla Cemetery’s magnificent and historic mausoleum, constructed from marble and granite from St. Louis’ 1904 World’s Fair, will be available all day.

Equine Assisted Therapy demonstrations will be provided by Ride On St. Louis staff.

St. Louis PCA Parktown Imports Carrera Classic

October 11-13, 2013

Gateway Motorsports Park, Masidon, IL

What is the Parktown Imports Carrera Classic, and why should I attend?

The Parktown Imports Carrera Classic is the St. Louis PCA's High Performance Driver's Education program (PCA HPDE).  This school offers the perfect environment for car lovers 18 years of age and older to learn more about performance driving.  Our driving school is structured by the Porsche Club of America Driver's Education Program and is a school that pairs experienced instructors with students of all levels to help them safely learn vehicle dynamics and high performance driving skills in a safe, controlled setting.  If you have always wanted to learn more about driving technique, joining a DE event is the safest, single best way to learn.  While the event is held at a race track, it is NOT a racing school.  You will not be taught to race.  You will learn about vehicle dynamics and high performance driving that will carry over to street driving and make you much more aware and capable in an emergency situation on the street.

To attend a PCA DE, you don’t need to own a Porsche.
The schools are designed to teach you to drive YOUR car better, regardless of who manufactured it.  You will see many non-Porsche cars at a PCA driving school.

Where does the St. Louis PCA hold these DE events?

The St. Louis PCA has a long partnership with Gateway Motorsports Park.  GMP is located just a couple of miles from downtown St. Louis and is a world-class racing facility that hosts events from NASCAR, NHRA, IndyCar, SCCA, NASA, BMWCCA, and ACNA to name a few.

 Since we last spoke...

The month began with a successful General Membership and Board Meeting at Parktown Audi.  Thanks to Parktown's Adam Walters,  Dan Shultz and Mike Heyer  for making this location available.

The September Cars & Coffee brought more Audi Club members and guests together under the Audi Club flag than in other recent C&Cs.  There is one more chance to check out the low-key atmosphere of Cars & Coffee this year.  Come out Saturday morning, October 19th for the last time this year.

On September 28th, Tom Treischmann planned a great drive on the back roads through St. Charles and Warren counties which ended at Chandler Hill Vineyards.  At Chandler Hill, we enjoyed lunch, adult beverages and some great entertainment.  The weather was beautiful and traffic light, making for a great day.
