"Circle of Support" by Robin Maynard-Dobbs
My friends, mother and grandmothers and ancestors gather around me
So often these days we feel isolated, alone and worried. Closing down to stay safe as we shelter in place, and yet here and now, we recognize that we need each other more than ever. So I created this series of circle meditations to remind us of our interconnection, as we are all in this together.
Worry can escalate the fear reaction which depletes our immune system in the time that we need it to be most robust. What helps the immune system is to be in a state of calm. I invite you to turn off the news for 12 minutes and listen to this meditation instead to satisfy your need for connection.
This meditation invites you to call in those you love and who love you the most, your personal circle of support, enabling you to shift towards experiencing gratitude for the connections you do have, even though many may be at a distance.
A dear friend of mine has been sick with the virus for the past six weeks. Each and every day, I sing a new song to her, often leaving the song on her answering machine when she is too weak to answer the phone. Hearing my voice singing uplifts my spirit just as much as it raises hers. Thankfully, she is gradually recovering, acknowledging the love that is sent her way, from me and others, is a tremendous support to help her heal….reminding us that we belong and are cherished no matter what we are going through.
