A few years ago, I sent out this request via email to my close friends and siblings, requesting them to email me just a few words that describe my strengths. I received a shower of beautiful reflections of how my loved one see me through their eyes. They spoke of my strengths and stellar qualities, so when I become filled with self doubt, I read their words to remind me of my essence.
It occurred to me in this time of isolation, that we could all use a little extra love. In the spirit of fun and play, why not participate in a ritual to generate a feeling of comfort and connection?
Here is how to connect with a few friends and shower each other with appreciation and goodness:
Gather the names of friends and loved ones, this can be as few as two or a larger group if you feel a little more daring. This ritual can be just for yourself, or better still if your friends know each other, they can each contribute to each other’s abundance.
Send out a request via email that could be similar to this:
I am creating a ceremony to celebrate my circle of support. I would love it if you could email me just a few words that describe my strengths. Having your input would be an inspiring reflection. This is not urgent and feet please feel free to pass.
If you are doing this in a group, you would each write down positive qualities that you see in the other person, what you genuinely love about them, their strengths, their stellar attributes and email this to them
When you have received all of the input, place the papers in a circle around you. And then read them one by one, savoring and soaking in the goodness. Do this on your own and then find a common time to gather on Skype or over the phone and share how that sweet and powerful process made you feel.
Warning: you may feel overwhelmed, embarrassed or self-conscious to take in all this goodness reflected to you at once. You can savor this like a fine piece of chocolate, let pieces melt in your mouth, to fully infuse this goodness into your mind, body and heart. You can always pause and read what has been written to you again and again just as I have done.
How much good can you stand?
