The theme for this year's symposium is “Beyond Buzzwords: Digging Deeper” and will take place on March 10 (Leadership Session at San Luis Obispo County Office of Education: 11:30 am - 3:00 pm) and March 11 (General Sessions at all grade levels at Arroyo Grande High School: 9:00 am - 4:00 pm).

CMC Speaker Proposals for Asilomar and Palm Springs Conferences
CMC-North's Asilomar Conference is December 1 - 3, 2017, Diamond Jubilee: Celebrating 60 Years of Community, Leadership and Innovation in Mathematics. Proposals to speak are being accepted now through April 30th.

CMC-South's Palm Springs Conference, "Growing Powerful Students: Mathematics as a GPS to Empower All", will be held Oct 27-28, 2017. Proposals to speak will be accepted beginning March 15th until May 1st.

CMC-North wishes to encourage creativity and innovation among its member educators in Northern California and Northern Nevada for the purpose of developing mathematically powerful students. Submit a mini-grant proposal by March 1st.

Jo Boaler Course - Cohort 2
CMC is sponsoring Cohort 2 for 230 participants for Jo Boaler’s on-line course,
How to Learn Math For Teachers. Deadline for applications is March 31, 2017 or as soon as 230 applications are received. Your commitment is 30 hours for the on-line course and 8 face-to-face hours to be completed by January, 2018. Apply at (have your membership number handy):

Call for Articles
The themes for the June 2017 issue of the ComMuniCator are Proportional Reasoning and Supporting Productive Struggle in the Math Classroom. The ComMuniCator Editorial Panel is looking for articles and activities related to both these themes. A brief description of each theme was included in the December 2016 issue of the ComMuniCator and will also be included in the March 2017 issue (see page 3). Deadline for submissions is March 10, 2017.
Information about how to submit a manuscript is given on the inside back cover of each issue and at the CMC website at
