Math Festival Scholarship Awardees


In order to expand the opportunity for schools throughout California to benefit from the exciting learning of a Math Festival, scholarships for $1,000 were awarded to the following schools:

Themes for the ComMuniCator

The themes for the September 2017 issue of the ComMuniCator are Algebraic Thinking and Developing a Growth Mindset in the Math Classroom. The ComMuniCator Editorial Panel is looking for articles and activities related to both these themes. A brief description of each theme was included in the March 2017 issue of the ComMuniCator and will also be included in the June 2017 issue (see page 3). Deadline for submissions is June 1, 2017. Information about how to submit a manuscript is given on the inside back cover of each issue and at the CMC website at cmc-math.org/cmc-membership/communicator/call-for-articles/. If you have questions about submitting an article or activity, contact Janet Trentacosta, ComMuniCator Editor, at cmc-communicator@sbcglobal.net.

The Editorial Panel is also looking for activities and games at all grade levels K–12 that teachers use in their classrooms to implement the California mathematics standards. The deadline for submissions is June 1, 2017. If you have any questions, contact Janet Trentacosta, ComMuniCator Editor.
