Hello coalition members, 

 

Our CCDP February and March 2024 highlights include: 

  • We are so honored to have been announced as a recipient of Opioid Abatement funding! See the article from the First Tennessee Development District below for more information. 
  • One of our volunteers, James, graduated from the 180 Program, and another of our volunteers, Bri, graduated from DRC. We are so proud of them and are grateful for the ways they serve our coalition and give back to the community. 
  • Thanks to the ETSU Addiction Science Center's Working group for allowing us to share at their February meeting. 
  • Kara and Scott received certification as Mental Health First Aid trainers. Thanks to the Northeast Regional Health Office Division of Emergency Preparedness for offering the training for trainers. 
  • We partnered with Elizabethton Parks & Rec to offer Glow in the Dark Dodgeball events in February and March. 
  • Thanks to the Appalachian Promise Alliance for allowing us to share on the Resilience Network All-County Meeting Parenting Panel. 
  • Our quarterly NEPAC meeting was held in February. The NEPAC meeting is a quarterly opportunity for all coalitions in the Northeast Tennessee region to meet and collaborate. Stay tuned to our Facebook events for more information about the next meeting. 
  • Thanks to Ballad Health for allowing us to speak at the NETN Regional Naloxone Stakeholders Meeting
  • We celebrated National Drug & Alcohol Facts week with daily social media posts.
We are so grateful for all of our community partners and the way you support our organization and programs! This month, you can support CCDP by making a donation or volunteering. We would love to have you join us in any way.

We are so grateful to our partners at Bridge to Shore Recovery and Recovery Resources for partnering with us on the following projects during this season: 
  • Family engagement game nights! We loved playing bingo, trivia, cards and having a murder mystery! (pictures 1-2 above)
  • We continued our Peer Preparation Pilot Program in partnership with Recovery Resources (picture 3 above)
  • Recovery Resources opened a house in Carter County (picture 4 above)
  • We supported Recovery Resources at their Polar Plunge fundraiser (pictures 5-6 above)
  • We supported Bridge to Shore Recovery at their dodge ball fundraiser. (pictures 7-10 above)
  • The 2024 Day of Hope event, held at Elizabethton/Carter County Public Library was a great success! Thanks to the Lifeline program and their partners for coordinating this event. 
  • Staff received annual Narcan refresher training and QPR suicide prevention training 
  • We loved assisting with the annual Seuss on the Loose event in downtown Elizabethton!
  • We hosted our annual "egg my yard" fundraiser event! We are so grateful for the people who purchased eggs and for the volunteers who served as our "Easter bunnies!" Check out some of the kiddos finding their eggs!

Are you a member of the CCC? If not, you should be! 
 
The Carter County Collaborative is a comprehensive collaboration between organizations, people, and businesses for the purpose of creating a healthy Carter County. The CCC plans and executes public events, campaigns, and maintains a community needs assessment through separate committees. This collaborative meets every first Thursday of the month from 12-1:30pm and is open to the public. This meeting also serves as the monthly coalition meeting for Carter County Drug Prevention. 

 

Vision: Carter County Collaborative is a comprehensive collaboration among organizations, people, and businesses for the purpose of making Carter County the healthiest in Tennessee.

 

Mission: The Carter County Collaborative facilitates member meetings, public events and campaigns, and maintains a County Needs Assessment and County Health Improvement Plan.

 

Values: Collaboration, Awareness, Representation, Leadership, Compassion, Community

Substance Abuse & Mental Health Committee (Committee A) Goal:
This committee will focus on stigma reduction, education, and community outreach through community partnerships, trainings, and events, ongoing through 2024.
 
NEW: WIDE  Wellness > Inclusion > Diversity > Equity (Committee B) Goals:
Objective 1: This committee will focus on addressing food insecurity and nutrition for residents of Carter County by identifying stakeholders and their needs, and establishing an emergency food box program in 2024.
 
Objective 2: This committee will focus on improving mental health for residents of Carter County by addressing stigma on mental health, increasing mental health content knowledge, and  Increasing partnerships with local agencies to distribute local mental health resources in 2024.
 
 Community Assessment Committee (Committee C) Goals:  
Objective 1: By December 30, 2024, the Assessment Committee will establish a CHA data package outreach and communication plan by creating data package materials and disseminating CHA data to community members, organizations, and businesses for appropriate awareness and promotion. 
 

Objective 2: By December 2024, the Assessment Committee will promote CCC marketing and branding through creation of CCC marketing materials, targeting community leaders to spread awareness, and ensuring proper CCC branding.
