The PEAK Mentoring program would like to take this opportunity to recognize one of their mentors John Kob. John is a 31 year veteran of the United States Marine Corps, 20 year drill instructor, has met 5 Presidents of the United States, and has trained more than 100,000 soldiers in his military career. John came to us through channels of the Johnson County School System and has been an asset to the PEAK Mentoring Program. I asked John why he was interested in becoming a PEAK Mentor. He said that there were many kids in our community that lack guidance and use illegal substances to fill the void of not having a caring adult in their life. John went on to say, kids are the future leaders of our community and they need a chance to become leaders through mentoring. John continued to say that he wanted to help others find the positive positions in life by being focused on the positive steering clear of the negatives in life. I asked John what qualities, skills, and attributes he felt that could benefit a youth? John replied, “I have many life experiences to draw from enabling me to assist the future of humanity and our youth”. John is an energetic and caring person that loves life! The PEAK Mentoring staff would like to thank John Kob for his commitment in helping the youth of our community and being a part of our program!

If you are interested in becoming a PEAK Mentor and changing a young person’s life, please  reach out to Shannon Payne at 423-707-9207 or email.  elizabethtonmentors@cartercountydrugprevention.org
