As your Lenten journey comes to a close, how is it going?

As Easter brings with it renewal, how are we as Catholic Men embracing the invitation and challenge to enter the journey?

The Bishop Perry Catholic Chicago Men's Forum is next Saturday.

This is our 15th year! .... we know something about a man's journey.

It was in 2004 this week a men's gathering for Vicariate VI in the Archdioces of Chicago was started. It was then called the Bishop Perry Men's Prayer Breakfast, at Saint Joseph's Parish in Homewood, Il.  The keynote speaker was John Morals, when he shared stories about his movie 'Champions of Faith'. That first event saw about 135 men, and created the inspiration for more interest in future events, men's prayer groups, and eventually the CMCS website and blog, etc.

If you are not yet going to the latest gathering in a few days, sign up today and make sure you have a seat at the table:

Never been to a Forum?

The forums are planned with a team of seven, who we can’t do without. They really are a diverse and committed group. We also have a group of independent donors who believe in and fund the forum overhead expenses (so we are blessed with not having to deal with corporate sponsors). This keeps the ticket sales affordable (compared to the national average) as they basically cover the food expenses. That’s simply how the business side of the forum is planned.

The presentations of the forums are what we call ‘locker room style’ where guy's have told us we don't need tablecloths or banners, or other fancy things. Just a sound system, tables and chairs, and we deliver the message. We also feed each man's stomach a hot breakfast, and then the keynote speaker will feed his Soul the Truth of the Word of God. We hold group discussions so guys can choose to connect the dots on their spiritual journey with each other. Then Bishop Perry presents a challenge during the closing Mass.

After the experience, it never fails, guys become emotional saying things like “you hit me in the heart” .. “this is what I was looking for”. They really connect things during the discussions, and often use the drive home to think things through and work things out in their heads, or have 'windshield time' with other men riding in the car. Most don’t see changes overnight, but baby steps over time, as they live out 'The Virtues of a Catholic Man' as a work in progress.

We now see in attendance not only guy's from our local Vicariate, but from across the Archdiocese and the Dioceses of Joliet and Gary.

Hope to see you at the Men's Forum!!
