Programing Update: Starting today Manhood Monday will be exclusive to this Mailing list and not also a post on the new Blog at CMCSMen.net. Because these entries are dated and from the Liturgical Calendar. Instead, the blog posts will have more 'evergreen' content - search-optimized content that is continually relevant and stays “fresh” for readers over a long period of time.

Discern the Signs of the Times
From Today's Readings:

Feast of Saint Bartholomew, Apostle

Alleluia JN 1:49B

R. Alleluia, alleluia.
Rabbi, you are the Son of God;
you are the King of Israel.
R. Alleluia, alleluia.

* [1:49] Son of God: this title is used in the Old Testament, among other ways, as a title of adoption for the Davidic king (2 Sm 7:14Ps 2:789:27), and thus here, with King of Israel, in a messianic sense. For the evangelist, Son of God also points to Jesus’ divinity (cf. Jn 20:28).

Prayer to St. Bartholomew

O Glorious St. Bartholomew, Jesus called you a person without guile and you saw in this word a sign that he was the Son of God and King of Israel. Obtain for us the grace to be ever guileless and innocent as doves. At the same time, help us to have your gift of faith to see the Divine hand in the events of daily life. May we discern the signs of the times that lead to Jesus on earth and will eventually unite us to him forever in heaven.

Thanks for Reading.

Make it a great week. See you back here again next Monday.
