From Today's Readings:
Jn 10:27
R. Alleluia, alleluia.
My sheep hear my voice, says the Lord;
I know them, and they follow me.
R. Alleluia, alleluia
Ask yourself. . . Am I ready if Our Lord called me home today?
He knows us. But do we know Him?
The Scripture says that when we know His voice we can follow Him. There are many people and things to follow in our culture today: Sports teams, politics, stocks and financial interests, and all that we may follow on social media, to name a few.
The evil one does not like us living out our holiness. The world shows us power, wealth, popularity and pleasure to take the place of God in our lives
Because of this, as Catholic men, it is important for us to sift through the noise and to be His number one fan. To let Our Lord speak through our thoughts and actions to the point that others ask what makes us different.
So how do we get to hear His voice, to follow Him?
From practicing and testing to hear His voice, through the Holy Spirit, and knowing the Holy Bible and the Catholic Catechism, which are the manual and play book for Catholic living.
For example, when you work for a business they should give you a company manual. Sports teams, and their refs, go by a play book. How much more should we then make the time to understand what God thinks and expects from us by getting to know Him, and developing relationship with Him?
When I was a photographer for the archdiocese, and on an assignment with Cardinal Bernardin, I knew where I needed to be placed in a church at different points of the Mass to get one step ahead of the picture I was looking for.
I needed to be like a fly on the wall, so to speak, and not a distraction (is what you do in your work or life, or the example of your life, distracting others from knowing who Jesus is?).
I had to check the program book for the Mass, and talk with his MC about any details. It didn’t start out this way, but I developed relationship with cardinal over time that he learned who I was and that I was following his lead.
Just like we need to follow the lead from our boss, we also need to follw as Jesus leads us. When we know Our Lord's voice, people will see this and trust us, and what we say and do, to follow Him.
Men, our family, and our culture, is counting on us to be their hero. But it is important not to do this alone, that we are all a team mate for each other.
We can’t just be present in others’ lives, but we need to make a presence that shows them our relationship with Him and knowing His voice. It is always a work in progress, but we must start the work to make the progress, towards following Him.
Thanks for Reading.
Make it a great week. See you in your inbox again next Monday.

August 28 is the Memorial of
St. Augustine, Bishop and Doctor of the Church.
___________
"Late have I loved you, O Beauty ever ancient, ever new,
late have I loved you!
You were within me, but I was outside, and it was there
that I searched for you.
In my unloveliness I plunged into the lovely things which you created.
You were with me,
but I was not with you.
Created things kept me from you;
yet if they had not been in you, they would have not been at all.
You called, you shouted, and you broke through my deafness.
You flashed, you shone, and you dispelled my blindness.
You breathed your fragrance on me;
I drew in breath and now I pant for you.
I have tasted you, now I hunger and thirst for more.
You touched me, and I burned for your peace."

Testimolinals
“CMCS has been a great help in my walk with Christ on a daily basis. I am surrounded by secular surroundings everyday and CMCS brings me “home.” This group of men keep me grounded and express charity and humility, which is not easy to find these days. The opportunity to listen to the wisdom of Bishop Perry is always enlightening and helps me in my growth in understanding the beauty of the Catholic faith.”
Tim
“My benefit from CMCS comes from the community of men I gather with and, our shared, interests, desires, and struggles with leading a Christian life. Our community helps me realize that I am not alone as I strive to be a servant of God. In this age where we race from chore to chore, and responsibility to responsibility CMCS provides me an opportunity to take time and think about God. A time to step back to think about where I am at, where I have been, and where I want to be in God’s eyes when I enter eternity. Of course the wisdom and guidance provided to us through the words of Bishop Perry are as the commercial says ………….. PRICELESS.”
