Prayer, Fasting and Almsgiving
Dear CMCS-Men and Friend's,
In Lent, we are called to participate in the life of Christ in a special way. Prayer, fasting, and almsgiving are an integral part of our tradition.

We do this in response to God’s great love for us. Each of us, in our own unique ministry of service, is called to care for the needs of others. Below are resources for prayer and fasting.

Likewise, to carry on the Lenten tradition of the Catholic Men Chicago Southland community, I invite you to give prayerful consideration and generous support to the CMCS Lenten Appeal. The Lenten Appeal not only helps function this apostolate, but helps us invest in developing your spiritual growth as a Catholic man.

As in the past, a generous donor will match your contributions, up to a maximum of $750.00, that are collected through the Lenten season. You and I are called to help address the important financial need of this apostolate so it can carry out its mission, as well as reaching more men.

May Almighty God bless you this Lenten season as you invest yourself in Christ’s love and work to serve others in His name.

Frank

“Lent is a new beginning, a path leading to the certain goal of Easter, Christ’s victory over death. This season urgently calls us to conversion. Christians are asked to return to God ‘with all their hearts’ (Joel 2:12), to refuse to settle for mediocrity and grow in friendship with the Lord.”

– Pope Francis.

How Lent For Men Works - Exodus90

"We run into people all the time who admire Jesus Christ as a good man from the past who somehow ran afoul of the authorities and was executed and has nevertheless endured over the long stretch of history as a figure of wisdom. But many of these same individuals will not hand their lives over to Him. Truth be told, Jesus Christ does not want our admiration of Him. He wants our discipleship. There’s a difference. Discipleship entails a well thought-out, calculated, intentional commitment to Jesus Christ with a modeling of our lives after His life."
