March 2021 From The Director's Heart

Calling All Volunteers!  In the next few weeks, the CMCS-Team will be meeting about expanding the number of men who volunteer their time to help lead the CMCS mission. I invite you to prayerfully consider serving on the CMCS-Team, and advising from your professional or life experiences on details for the annual Forum and other events.  This does not mean advising on the functioning of CMCS apostolate, there is a core team for that  If you are interested, please email me or use the contact page

Random thought - Men, our wives count on us to be “charming”.  When was the last time she, or anyone, called you that?  Or when was the last time you heard the word ‘charming’?  It’s been a while for me too, and I’m going to ask my wife what it means to her for me to be charming……  What do you think she would say?  What do you think your wife would say about you?

Please patronize those who support us - Over the past few years Aurelio's Pizza (Homewood), Walt's Food Center (Homewood), and Jimbooo's Catering have suported CMCS by donating food for our team meetings, as well as providing specical pricing for our annual Forum to keep ticket pricing low. During this time of COVID we ask you to please support these businesses who believe in your and your spiritual growth. Thank you!

Holy Men

Today, more than ever, men are seeking answers and need to be connected with other men … to be challenged to step up to the qualities traditionally associated with men  … who need to be uplifted in their crusade of manhood from the effects of our culture. This mission for Catholic manhood provides men with an encouraging process that teaches them how to live the God-Centered and fulfilled life they were designed for.

We see at the annual Bishop Perry’s Men’s Forum men connecting the dots with other men on their journey to holiness.  And this is what growing in holiness is all about, and how God speaks to us.

And this is also why the need for men’s small groups at the local parish is part of the CMCS Mission.

Unlike our Forum, which we’ll talk about in a moment, parish men’s small groups are not a one-time event but a process that enables men to experience real life-change together with other men over a period of time. And provides men with a safe place where they can discover someone understands them and they are not alone.

With a compelling vision of manhood they can take hold of and live out, the parish small men’s group provides men with time to effectively process their manhood. And provides practical “how-to’s” they can taste success with.

And finally, the small group provides men with male cheerleaders in their pursuit of manhood ….  a sacred moment where they know they have become a man.

The time has come more than ever for men to step up to true, bona fide, manhood. We invite and challenge you to become involved in, or start, a small men’s group in your parish. It can start with an audio or video chat .. ..

Pulling from our extensive background and years of experiences in fostering Catholic men, CMCS can walk you through at the grass roots level for developing a model men’s group.

Men's Forum

Now, about the Forum on April 10, 2021, several of you have generously provided the seed money for the event expenses. Thank you, we could not do this without you!

Now, usually, event ticket revenue is used to cover the food expenses.  However, because of COVID, we are going to host the Forum online, and make a decision shortly before the event date if we'll host it live, at St. Anne in Hazel Crest, as well.

Otherwise, sometime during 2021 we WILL host a live event when the archdiocese opens up the parishes enough for a larger group of men to attend.

But if you'd only like to participate online, then we'll ask for an optional free will donation to cover that expense. But, again, all that we do and share online is free because we don't want to put up a pay wall to your spiritual growth.

There is also a matching gift appeal for your almsgiving to CMCS during the Lenten season.  Simply, your donation doubles!

Thank you on behalf of Bishop Joseph Perry and the CMCS Team,

Keeping you and your family in prayer, for a blessed Lent,

... And a very Happy Easter!
