Manhood Monday
Your weekly dose of  "Living the Goodness of a Catholic Man".
Fostering Catholic Men in personal holiness, to make Jesus Christ the center of our daily lives, is part of our mission at Catholic Men Chicago Southland. One of the best ways to live out our spiritual journey as Catholic men is to learn from each other in community. Here is some spiritual inspiration to get your week started!
Feast of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary

Alleluia

R. Alleluia, alleluia.
Blessed are you, O Virgin Mary, who believed
that what was spoken to you by the Lord would be fulfilled.
R. Alleluia, alleluia.

Today the Church is celebrating a memorial that was instituted by Pope Francis in 2018 – Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of the Church. It is celebrated each year on the day after Pentecost, which is the birth of her mission. Why is Mary the Mother of the Church? She was with the disciples in the upper room when the Holy Spirit descended upon them.
This feast commemorates the three-month visit of Mary with her elderly cousin Elizabeth during Mary’s pregnancy with Jesus and Elizabeth’s with John the Baptist.

And Mary said:

“My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord;
my spirit rejoices in God my Savior.”

We Are Called: Mary and Vocational Discernment
Mary’s devotion to God and willingness to say “yes” to him is something Catholics learn very early in faith formation. And Mary’s deep faith and dedication to doing God’s will can be an inspiration for anyone searching to fulfill the will of God, no matter their vocation. Fr. Ralph O’Donnell explores these themes further in a short video from the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops.
The Ave Maria; the most familiar of all prayers addressed to the Blessed Virgin. It contains the salutation of the angel Gabriel to Mary, and Elizabeth's greeting to Mary at the Visitation. The petition beginning "Holy Mary, Mother of God" was formulated by the Church and added to the Hail Mary in the Middle Ages. The full text reads:

"Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with you.
Blessed are you among women,
And blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners,
now and at the hour of our death. Amen."

Memorial Day is the perfect way to say “thank you” to those brave people, and the fallen, both in the armed forces and in our personal lives, who have given us their all.  It’s not all about celebrating with the cook-out today, take a moment to say a prayer and remember what we all take for granted.
On this Memorial Day, we offer a prayer for those who died in service to our country.
In your hands, O Lord,
we humbly entrust our
brothers and sisters.
In this life you embraced them with
your tender love;
deliver them now from every evil
and bid them eternal rest.

We would like to thank you,

We’re able to offer free online resources to Catholic men in Chicagoland Southland and around the world because people like you give financially what they think is fair. We do this because we think the ability for men to grow in holiness is fundamental, and we think everyone deserves access to world class information.  By allowing members of our apostolate community to pick their own gift makes sure everyone can access the tools they need (without subscribers, membership fees, or a pay wall) as Jesus did with His own ministry on earth.

The CMCS-Team serves all of this with passion and pride – for you. And while we are not in this to “make money”, like all Catholic apostolates we need to pay the bills to keep doing debt free what we do – in an ethical way.
We foster Catholic men.  Thank you for your support!
