Vision: To Foster Catholic Men's Spirituality in Chicago Southland
Note:   This is a blog series on The Ten Commandments, (unless Bishop Perry has something to say in-between) and excerpts from the Catholic Catechism on how this relates to 'Living the Goodness of a Catholic Man'.

Part of the CMCS mission is teaching the fundamentals of the Catholic Faith:  We all have our vices and temptations, and they all come down to how we view and practice the basic teachings of the faith as a Catholic man.

I hope this blog series will help you reflect on both the commandments and the Catechism so that you may be renewed to grow more in holiness as a Catholic man.

PS. Thank you to the men who have let us know how helpful this blog series has been for them. Remember, the fastest way to success is to replace bad habits with good habits.

You shall not covet your neighbor's house

The Ninth Commandment: You shall not covet your neighbor's house.

You shall not covet your neighbor's house; you shall not covet your neighbor's wife, or his manservant, or his maidservant, or his ox, or his ass, or anything that is your neighbor's. Every one who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

2528 "Everyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart" (Mt 5:28).
2529 The ninth commandment warns against lust or carnal concupiscence.
2530 The struggle against carnal lust involves purifying the heart and practicing temperance.
2531 Purity of heart will enable us to see God: it enables us even now to see things according to God.
2532 Purification of the heart demands prayer, the practice of chastity, purity of intention and of vision.
2533 Purity of heart requires the modesty which is patience, decency, and discretion. Modesty protects the intimate center of the person.

God made women to be feminine and, to a Man's eyes, a work of Art created by God.  Your heart has a hole in it, and you either fill it with things of this world or with Jesus Christ.

Younger and younger women dress showing more skin because they believe this is what men want and need them to do to be accepted by a Man.

Young Catholic men say that when they start to date a "good Catholic girl" she wants to have sex with him by the second date.  When / if he tells her that he respects her as a women, she usually doesn't know how to react.

Why do you think this is?

Have men caused women to fall to the sexual addiction mentality of our culture?

There is a better way:

Do you look at a woman by focusing on her face - the bridge of her nose - or do you let your eyes travel making her feel like an object of your desire?

Do you in public speak ill about your spouse or talk derogatory about women?

Do you remove yourself from temptations against purity?

Do you have a pure heart and follow the Ten Commandments?

Are you the Catholic Man that God wants you to be?

Consider this:

82% of ALL men struggle with pornography.

40% of religious leaders - all denominations - have had an affair.

88% of successful businessmen have had at least one (1) affair.

Consider pornography as another form of cancer, only caused by Sin and YOUR lack of identity of who you are in Jesus Christ.

Titus Chapter 2: "11 For the grace of God has appeared, saving all 12 and training us to reject godless ways and worldly desires and to live temperately, justly, and devoutly in this age".

Freedom from pornography and lust comes from your character and behavior.  The truth will set you free.  God's grace gives you the power not to sin.

When you are driving and see a women walking down the street, or a particular woman across the isle in church, does your wife or other women look at you as if to say "take a picture it lasts longer"?  Or do you look at that woman with the eyes and the love of Christ in your heart?

Where do your eye's go?

Be mindful that your eyes are the window to your soul.
