Managing Hair Loss
CHI HEALTH LETTER                November 7, 2014

Many adults suffer from hair loss. In the United States, 50 million men and 30 million women have some degree of hair loss. It is by no means life-threatening but hair loss can have psychological repercussions. At first glance, it seems like all it affects is vanity. But hair loss actually may have an underlying health issues that need to be addressed.

Hair loss can be due to many reasons, from bad hygiene to poor circulation or from hormonal imbalance to thyroid issues. Let us look at the different factors that may cause hair loss and how to address each one.

Main Protocol for Managing Hair Loss

In most cases, hair loss is due to lack of nutrition to the hair follicles. Improving circulation in the scalp can help promote nutrition to the follicles.

Lily Hair Tonic and Jujuchi is the primary combination recommended to promote hair growth. Lily Hair Tonic is a topical natural supplement that helps invigorate blood circulation directly on the scalp, eliminating blood stasis. It also stimulates hair follicle health and helps maintain an optimal growth condition in the scalp. Jujuchi contains herbs that give added nutrition to hair. Biotin may be added to improve hair quality.

Other supplements may be added to Lily Hair Tonic and Jujuchi depending on the cause and other factors.

POOR CIRCULATION

While Lily Hair Tonic does improve scalp circulation, sometimes poor circulation throughout the body (noticeable as cold hands and feet) can contribute to hair loss. Improving overall circulation with Vein Lite can help hair growth. This helps deliver needed nourishment to the scalp.

The Mineral Infrared Therapy (MIT) machine can also help promote microcirculation and nutrition in the scalp. The minerals on the disc of the MIT, when heated, are absorbed into our bodies and allowed to stimulate biochemical processes as well as supplement our own natural trace elements and activate deficient ones. It also helps manage folllicle disease by speeding up the process of decomposition of unstable structures, such as dead cells.

HORMONAL IMBALANCE

In men, male pattern baldness (androgenic alopecia) is common and is often attributed to high levels of a potent form of testosterone called dihydrotestosterone or DHT. DHT causes hair follicles to shrink and die, leading to hair loss. So how do we address this problem?

Prosta Chi and Myomin can help address androgenic alopecia. DHT is converted from testosterone through the 5-alpha reductase enzyme. Prosta Chi inhibits this enzyme to reduce DHT levels. Myomin, on the other hand, will help prevent testosterone from converting to estradiol. Since testosterone promotes hair growth, we need to have this at optimal levels. Some women may be able to benefit from this protocol as well.

LOW THYROID FUNCTION

Hypothyroidism is a common cause of hair loss in women. If you also experience fatigue, unexplained weight gain, dry skin, cold limbs and foggy memory, low thyroid function may be the cause of the hair loss. Add Pro-Metabolic to help restore thyroid hormones to their optimal level. Eventually, hair can grow back.

HYGIENIC AND NUTRITIONAL RECOMMENDATIONS

It is best not to wash the hair every day for better hair growth. When washing the hair, do not use hot water and, if possible, use a pH 7 shampoo (like baby shampoo).

Good nutrition is also essential for hair growth. Good quality protein (fish source) and trace elements (like copper, etc.) help promote hair growth.

Case Reports

F. S. from California shared: “I have had the MIT device for 6 months now and for the past 20 days I have used on my scalp for 35 minutes every day, because my hair was all gray, very coarse and falling out. Since I have been using the MIT, my hair is growing in like crazy, fine soft brown hair is filling in, the gray and coarse hair is turning soft and brown as well.”

P.B., 58 y/o/f from California, has had low thyroid function for 7 years and has been taking Synthroid. She had terrible hair loss; her nails did not grow; she was still gaining weight. She also had many ovarian cysts and had a hysterectomy in 1992, suggesting a hormonal issue. After 3 months on Myomin, she is feeling much improvement in symptoms. Her nail growth is also much better. And she is not losing hair as much and has no further weight gain. This suggests that even with her thyroid medication, hormonal imbalance still affected hair growth. With Myomin, she was able to improve her hair loss.
