Eczema (or atopic dermatitis) is characterized by itchy, peeling and burning skin. It afflicts people of all ages, affecting about 1 in 10 people with most of the cases genetic.
About 30% of people with eczema are affected before 5 years of age. Eczema can be categorized into 3 stages according to onset: (1) Newborn, (2) After 1 year old and (3) Adults. If it develops before 1 year old, it is always symmetrical, affecting the arms, hands, legs, face and scalp. After that, it may not be symmetrical and can affect any part of the body. If it

develops before 17 years old, it affects mostly the arms, legs and skin around the joints. In adults, eczema can affect many areas such as the legs, arms, hands (Figure 1), etc.; however, redness and itching in the eyelid area associated with eczema is usually seen in adults only (Figure 2).
Eczema Usually Accompanied by Sinus/Allergy Problems
The allergy season is almost here and this year is supposed to be one of the worst because of the expected increase in pollen count. Many people with eczema may be prone to allergies/hay fever as well as allergic asthma, and vice versa. Together, eczema, hay fever and asthma are part of the atopic triad of diseases, so having one increases your risk of developing the other two.
You will see that many people with eczema at a young age often have asthma or sinus allergy problems, too. This usually clears up as they get older. But if they already present with nail clubbing (indicates respiratory risk), they still need to make sure to prevent asthma.
For those with sinus/allergy problems, take Sinus Chi to help relieve symptoms. For those with asthma, take OxyPower, Bamboo Extract, and Synergen.

Eczema Remedies
While it is not life-threatening, eczema can definitely affect one's quality of life. The constant itching, and sometimes burning, associated with it can affect sleep. The unsightly rash taht accompanies it causes embarrassment among sufferers.
There is no known cure for eczema but it can be well managed.
Many doctors recommend ultraviolet (UV) light as treatment but there are dangers involved with it. Corticosteroids may also be recommended; however, they are not specific in their inhibition of inflammation. Besides, they are only best if used short-term. Long-term use of corticosteroids carries side effects.
Natural therapies like Autocin (oral), Whole Skin (topical) and Bathdetox (topical) may be a better alternative. Autocin addresses the autoimmune aspect of eczema while Whole Skin and Bathdetox provide soothing relief of eczema rashes.

Natural Therapies for Eczema: Autocin, Whole Skin and Bathdetox
AUTOCIN is a safer, natural alternative to anti-inflammatory and immune-suppressing drugs. It has anti-inflammatory, immunoregulatory and analgesic effects. It may be combined with medicine for active stage autoimmune conditions. One of its mechanisms is in regulating T helper (Th) cell production.
The itching and redness seen in eczema is due to the overexpression of Th2 type cells or inflammatory cytokines like Interleukin-4 (IL-4), which causes inflammation. There is often a corresponding decrease in IL-2 in these cases. A study on Autocin shows that it regulates T cell production, lowering IL-4 levels and increasing IL-2 levels (Figure 3).

Besides eczema, Autocin is also very effective for autoimmune conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, etc. Psoriasis will be discussed in another Chi Health Letter issue.
WHOLE SKIN ointment can be applied topically to provide soothing relief to eczema rashes. It has anti-itching, analgesic, and disinfectant effects. Its scar-free, skin-healing properties also make it ideal for eczema.
T. Hafner, Jr., DDS from New Jersey, reported that using latex gloves would trigger his eczema. After taking Autocin and using Whole Skin, his condition cleared.
BATHDETOX is especially effective for acute eczema triggered by allergens. It can effectively pull out the toxins to hasten skin healing and relieve symptoms. For children with eczema, the use of Whole Skin and Bathdetox is safe.
A 57-year-old female has had eczema for 25 years. She has used many drugs (triamcinolone, econazole, miconazole, benzoic acid, salicylic acid, boric acid) but her condition did not improve. The skin on
her foot was red with lesions (Figure 4). After using Bathdetox (1
hr/day) for 1 ½ months, her skin completely cleared (Figure 5).
J. Arkelian, LMT from FL, a 21-year-old female client with an itchy and painful rash all over the body that would not heal even with medication. After using Bathdetox consecutively for 3 days, the rash was about 99% clear.

What to do if you have Eczema
If you have eczema, never use hot water, just lukewarm. Avoid bath or skin products with aromatic and ethanol compounds. After taking a bath or a shower, do not use creams. Instead use lotion that does not contain ethanol.
Foods to avoid
It is best to avoid foods that can trigger eczema such as foods with gluten and “hot” foods (peanuts, chili, mangoes, lychees, eggplants, etc.). Probiotics are also beneficial for those suffering from eczema, especially those who also have sinus/allergy problems at the same time. About 80% of our immunity is in the gut, so promoting it can improve autoimmune skin conditions like eczema as well as sinus problems, like in this case.
J. Chang from Florida has a male client who found that CFC has helped clear his sinus allergies. He took 2-3 capsules before lunch, 3 capsules before dinner and 3 capsules at bedtime. In 1 year, he didn’t have any sinus allergies anymore.
Stress is also a trigger factor of eczema. Reducing stress with Relaxin can therefore help calm the skin. In addition, many eczema sufferers have trouble with sleeping because of the incessant itching and burning involved. Relaxin can help with sleep while the supplements (Autocin, Whole Skin and Bathdetox) can help relieve the itching.
Hay Fever/Allergies
People who also have hay fever and allergies know that spring is allergy season. To minimize or eliminate allergy symptoms, make sure to close your windows to avoid exposure to pollen and other allergens and take Sinus Chi before the season starts.
