THE ZIKA VIRUS

We have had a lot of inquiries about the Zika virus. Everyone now knows that it is a global concern, especially in South America.

Pregnant women, and their unborn fetuses, are at most risk from the Zika virus. The neurological effects that are supposed to be caused by the virus is, of course, a major fear of every mother-to-be. So what do we recommend for it?

If you happen to know that you have just been bitten by the mosquito that carries the Zika virus, use Bathdetox right away. Soaking in the Bathdetox bath can help pull out the toxins carried by the mosquito.

To help fight the infection, take Bamboo Extract. Its antiviral properties will be beneficial in cases of Zika infections. In addition, you can also take Reishi Spore Extract to boost your immune system.

Markers of Insulin Resistance, Diabetes and Heart Disease Risk

Heart disease is one of the complications of diabetes. So if you have diabetes, or even insulin resistance, it is important to manage your blood glucose through HbA1c. If you do not know whether you have diabetes or not, you can look for physical markers that are strong indicators or insulin resistance or heart disease.

Teeth marks on the Tongue

If you see teeth marks on the edges of the tongue (Figure 1), it is already an early sign that you may have hypoglycemia, a precursor to diabetes. Especially if you become dizzy, shaky and irritable when you get hungry and don’t eat right away; Or the more you eat the more you get tired; And if after a big
meal, you feel like sleeping (energy crash).

Skin Tags

Also, if you notice the appearance of skin tags (Figure 2) on the armpit, torso or neck, this is associated with an 80% risk of insulin resistance, especially if you develop them suddenly.

Acanthosis nigricans

If you see dark, wrinkly pigmentation on the back of the neck (or elbows, knees, knuckles, and armpits), this is known as acanthosis nigricans (Figure 3) and is usually a sign of a more serious case insulin resistance or diabetes or other conditions like PCOS.

CHECK YOUR HbA1c LEVEL

You can clinically verify if you have insulin resistance or diabetes by checking your HbA1c level. The HbA1c level is used to measure a person’s average blood glucose level in a 3-month period. So this would give us a better idea if a person’s blood sugar level is well controlled, even among diabetes patients. Even if you are not diabetic, an elevated HbA1c level can already indicate that you are insulin resistant.

Cherry angiomas on the forehead, Earlobe Crease, Red Face
Stroke, Aneurysm, or Heart Disease Risk

Having diabetes or an elevated HbA1c already puts you at risk for heart disease. You can also look for physical markers that may indicate heart disease or stroke risk.

When you see cherry angiomas on the forehead (Figure 4) it is a sign of stroke or aneurysm risk. Cherry angiomas are a sign of estrogen dominance. Many studies already show a link between elevated estrogen and insulin resistance and diabetes. At the same time, high estradiol has been associated with risk for blood clots and heart disease. Furthermore, an earlobe crease can indicate heart disease risk. Also, if someone has a red face, it likely signifies a heart problem.

So if you have these markers and also have diabetes or insulin resistance, the risk for heart attack is even greater. We see an example in the following case.

V.H. is a 61-year-old male schoolteacher from CA. He had 2 cherry angiomas, indicating his risk for stroke/aneurysm, when Dr. Chi saw him initially. He also has diabetes, high cholesterol, and high blood pressure. One day about 3 months later, his speech was slurring while he was teaching. He remembered what Dr. Chi told him about his stroke risk. So he immediately went to the ER. He did have a stroke and was thankful he was saved. He has been continually on the Chi program and has reduced his C-reactive Protein (CRP) and homocysteine to within the normal range.

So you should be aware of early physical markers of insulin resistance and heart disease so you can take action to manage them right away. If you have these markers and your HbA1c is also elevated, the risk for heart disease is much higher.

Each Point Increase in HbA1c Raises Heart Attack Risk by 18%

The HbA1c level is used to measure a person’s average blood glucose level in a 3-month period. Many laboratories use a different HbA1c threshold. Ideally, your HbA1c should be less than 5.6. Studies show that each one-point increase in HbA1c raises the risk of heart attack by 18%. The heart attack risk/probability is calculated as follows:

                           (HbA1c level - 5.6) x 18% = Heart Attack risk%

When the CRP and homocysteine levels are also elevated, this adds to the risk of cardiovascular problem. Ideally, CRP should be less than 1 and homocysteine should be under 6.

Another case shows how a patient ignored the signs and what his HbA1c level meant in terms of his risk for a heart attack.

CASE #1

June 2015 – C. Rodnick, DC from MI, has a 56-year-old male patient who used to weigh around 200 lbs when he was about 50 years old. He took Myomin, Pro-Metabolic, Slender All, Digestron and Prosta Chi and lost about 70 lbs and reduced 4 jacket sizes. Then in 2015, his HbA1c level jumped from 6.8 to 8.9 in less than six months. He does have cherry angiomas on the torso and hairline (indicating stroke or aneurysm risk) and a red face. Tests also revealed that his glucose, cholesterol and LDL levels were significantly elevated. So to calculate his heart attack risk, we use the same equation above:

                                       (8.9 – 5.6 = 3.3) x 18% = 59.4%

This shows he already had almost 60% risk for a heart attack on June 8, 2015. Plus the physical markers he has were also strong indicators of heart disease. Two weeks later, on June 25, 2015, he did have a heart attack. Now he is on Vein Lite, OxyPower, Myomin, Diabend, Asparagus Extract, Hypertine, and Wine Extract.

We look at another similar case. This time the patient was well aware of his risks and took action to manage his conditions before anything serious happened.

CASE #2

April 2016 – C. Phillips, DC from MN, has a 60-year-old male patient who has been taking blood pressure medication for years. He has mild pulmonary hypertension and severe left ventricular hypertrophy. In November 2015, he was diagnosed with diabetes and prescribed Metformin. His blood test in December 2015 already showed high glucose, cholesterol, LDL and HbA1c  (Table 1). In January 2016, he already knew he had 25% and 45% blockage in two of his major arteries. He also presented with numbness all over his body, teeth marks, a left earlobe crease and cherry angiomas on his forehead. The numbness is most likely due to poor circulation and cardiovascular health. His cholesterol was high. The cherry angiomas on his forehead are indicative of a risk for stroke or aneurysm. Teeth marks indicate insulin resistance which is evident in his elevated HbA1c level of 9.6, which correlates to an average glucose level of 228 in a 3-month period. His fasting glucose was already 149. Normally glucose should be under 99.

An HbA1c level of 9.6 is very high, which means that his risk for a heart attack or stroke is high. Let us calculate how much:
(9.6 – 5.6 = 4) x 18% = 72%

Just looking at his HbA1c shows he has a 72% chance of heart attack. Despite his diabetes prescription medication, a 2-hour glucose test in January 2016 did not show much improvement. The fact that he has hypertension and high cholesterol adds to his risk. His mother also died of a stroke at age 74, so he has a family history, increasing his risk.

This case shows what many of us already know: diabetes can lead to cardiovascular complications and many other conditions. Looking at the HbA1c level, as well as physical markers, can help us determine if we are insulin resistant and we can take action immediately to correct it and avoid complications such as heart disease or stroke.

This patient started taking Diabend, Myomin, OxyPower for his diabetes and Vein Lite, Asparagus Extract, Wine Extract and Myosteo for his cardiovascular function. Vein Lite and OxyPower especially will help with his mild pulmonary hypertension and left ventricular hypertrophy. He also changed his diet and did regular exercise. After about 2 months, his cholesterol already decreased to 178 (Table 1) and his HbA1c dropped to 6.5, a huge improvement. Another 2 months later, in April 2016, his LDL cholesterol reduced to 105 and his HbA1c further dropped to 5.4, now within the ideal range. His testosterone increased to 613 and he lost 33 lbs. His PSA also dropped from 1.73 to 1.27.
Protocol for Lowering HbA1c and Managing Insulin Resistance/Diabetes and heart Disease Risk

Naturally managing insulin resistance and diabetes is possible with Diabend, Myomin and OxyPower.
  • DIABEND
    • Studies show that Diabend can effectively manage insulin and glucose levels. It also lowers HbA1c.
  • MYOMIN
    • As mentioned, insulin resistance and diabetes are closely related to estrogen. Myomin is a natural aromatase reducer that lowers estradiol and consequently HbA1c
  • OXYPOWER
    • OxyPower’s action is to improve mitochondrial function so that cells can utilize glucose and oxygen more effectively. It also repairs peripheral vascular damage to prevent neuropathy that is usually associated with diabetes
  • VEIN LITE
    • For people who are at risk for heart disease, Vein Lite can naturally improve cardiovascular function. It promotes circulation throughout the body by reducing blood clotting factors. It can also lower homocysteine, CRP, cholesterol, lipoprotein and more, indicators of inflammation and cardiovascular disease risk.

The effectiveness of these supplements is seen in the following cases.

L.H., 65 y/o/f from NY, is a diabetic and had a fasting HbA1c level of 7.6 even with medication she has been taking for years. At this point, her risk for heart disease was 36%. After 6 months on Myomin, Diabend and OxyPower, her HbA1c level reduced to 6.5 (Table 2). This means that her risk for heart disease has reduced by 20%.

O.V., 59 y/o/f from CA, had fluctuating blood glucose (from 110 to 400) and very high ALT. Then it was found that she has acanthosis nigricans and skin tags. After 3 months on Myomin, Diabend, OxyPower and Liver Chi, her glucose reduced to 110-129 and fatty liver normalized. She stopped taking the supplements for more than a year. Then her glucose shot up to 398. She went back on the program and her glucose level reduced to 140 within one week.
If you Have Diabetes or Insulin Resistance, Check your Stroke or Heart Attack Risk

Diabetes or insulin resistance is one of the known risk factors for cardiovascular disease or stroke. If you are diabetic or insulin resistant and have cherry angiomas on your forehead, your chance for stroke or heart attack is even greater. So watch for this sign.

Your HbA1c level is a good tool to use to verify insulin resistance or diabetes. It can also be used to monitor someone’s improvement. Ideally, HbA1c should be lower than 5.6. Each one-point increase in HbA1c reflects an increased risk of heart attack by 18%. Taking Diabend, Myomin and Oxypower can help reduce HbA1c. To improve cardiovascular function, you can add Vein Lite.
