FEATURED STORY

Every month without fail, Eleanor would curl up into a ball in her bed, suffering from menstrual cramps. None of the painkillers she has tried gave her any relief at all. The pain was so excruciating that she always had to miss class during her high school and college years. When she started working, she had to miss work when she had these episodes. She was always told that these cramps were part of her cycle, that she just has to bear it. It wasn’t until years later when she and her husband were trying to unsuccessfully conceive that Eleanor found out she had endometriosis.
Endometriosis: More Common than You Think

Eleanor’s plight is more common than you think. Worldwide, it affects 176 million women. In the United States, 1 in 10 women and girls suffer from endometriosis. About 30-40% of women with endometriosis have fertility issues, just like Eleanor.

So what is Endometriosis?

During the monthly period, the body sheds the endometrium, or uterine lining. But for those who have endometriosis, these menstrual fluids stay in the body, some of them grow outside of the uterus, eventually developing in to adhesive scar tissue and nodules.
ENDOMETRIOSIS INCREASES RISK OF OVARIAN CANCER AND OTHER RELATED CANCERS

While considered benign, endometriosis does increase the risk for some types of cancer. Women with endometriosis have 3 times higher chance of developing ovarian cancer and have double the risk of developing endometrial cancer.

Up to 50% of endometriosis cases are inherited. Women who have a close female relative (mother or sister) with endometriosis have a very high risk of developing it, too. Women who have no children, are infertile, undergo late menopause, are obese and have diabetes are at very high risk for developing endometrial cancer so it is essential to take steps to avoid it before reaching 40 years old.

If you have a sister who has breast or endometrial cancer, then brother has high chance of colon cancer.

If you have two relatives within 2nd degree who have these breast, endometrial, colon or lung cancer, your risk for one of these cancers is very high.

Even women who have undergone hysterectomy are still at increased risk for breast cancer.
SYMPTOMS OF ENDOMETRIOSIS

Many of the symptoms of endometriosis may be mistaken for other diseases so it takes years, sometimes up to 10 years, for the disease to be diagnosed. It is important not to disregard any symptoms because early intervention is vital in managing endometriosis.

Pelvic Pain
The most common symptom of endometriosis is chronic pelvic and abdominal pain or cramps. Like in Eleanor’s case above, this pain is usually not alleviated with painkillers. Many women are told that these menstrual cramps they experience are just part of the monthly cycle so they just try to bear the pain. Menstrual cramps are not normal, especially excruciating and chronic ones. So if you experience them, endometriosis may the underlying cause.

Bowel and Urinary Symptoms
A few weeks ago, we discussed Irritable Bowel Diseases and associated symptoms such as abdominal pain, constipation and diarrhea. If these symptoms are chronic and worsen during your period, then these symptoms may very well be due to endometriosis. Sometimes urinary tract problems may also occur. These bowel and urinary symptoms usually arise when endometrial tissue implant in the intestines or urinary tract.

Heavy Bleeding
Heavy menstrual bleeding, usually lasting more than 7 days, is also seen in endometriosis.

Infertility
Up to 50% of women with endometriosis also suffer from infertility.

Cherry Angiomas on the Abdomen
Cherry angiomas on the abdomen are a sign of estrogen dominance. Endometriosis is fueled by estrogen so the presence of cherry angiomas in combination with pelvic pain may point towards endometriosis.

MYOMIN AND CHI-F EFFECTIVELY ADDRESSES ENDOMETRIOSIS

There is no cure for endometriosis. Currently laparoscopic excision surgery is used to remove growths and scar tissue. However, many doctors still recommend hysterectomy for endometriosis patients. But hysterectomy does not cure endometriosis. In fact, even women who undergo hysterectomy will still experience pain. This is because endometrial tissue, adhesive scar tissue and nodules may still be in the organs around the uterus, causing pain.

It is possible to avoid surgery altogether with natural supplements. The use of Myomin and Chi-F can effectively manage endometriosis and its symptoms.
MYOMIN to Reduce Estrogen Dominance in Endometriosis

The reason why endometrial tissue grows outside the uterus is not exactly know. But what we do know is that estrogen worsens the problem. Estrogen does fuel the growth of the endometrial lining. So reducing estrogen is one of the ways of effectively managing endometriosis. Myomin can naturally do so by reducing the expression of the aromatase enzyme that converts other hormones to estrogen.

In one study on 255 women with endometriosis and ovarian cysts, Myomin was 57.6% effective overall (Figure 1).

There are also numerous case reports where Myomin has helps reduce pain and bleeding associated with endometriosis and similar disorders as well as reduce endometrial thickness, like in the following cases.

Case Reports

K.D., 47-year-old female from California, has had adenomyosis (condition similar to endometriosis) for years. She’s had constant menstrual bleeding and endometrial pain for 7 years. Then she started taking Angiostop, Myomin and Chi-F. After 2 months, her pain alleviated and her menstrual bleeding cleared. Now she continues to take Myomin and Chi-F.

I. Wilkins, MD from Pennsylvania, has a 67-year-old female patient taking Myomin, Angiostop and Revivin for thick endometrial lining and possible endometrial polyp. After 6 months, a pelvic ultrasound revealed tremendous improvement (Table 1).

J. Iannetta, DC from Maine, has a 57-year-old female postmenopausal patient who has endometriosis with tubular metaplasia and polyps. A sudden vaginal bleeding was suspected to be ovarian/uterine cancer so she took Myomin and Angiostop right away. After 14 months, both her estradiol and CA.125 level (ovarian cancer marker) reduced (Table 2). After 3 years on Myomin, her estradiol further reduced to under 32.

A 57-year-old female from California had menopause at 50 years old. She was given BHRT and is using it until now. Her endometrium was thick. In September 2014, she had sudden heavy bleeding but it stopped after a few days. Three months later, she again had heavy bleeding and it lasted for 45 days. Her doctor had given her different hormones to stop the bleeding but none worked. Then during the last 3 days of that, she was given Myomin and she reported that her bleeding stopped after 2 days.

L. H., a RN from CA, has a 47-year-old female patient who had 3 ovarian cysts surgically removed 20 years ago. Half of her ovary was removed and her fallopian tubes were cleaned. However, after the surgery, she has since developed endometriosis. She took contraceptive pills and had hormone replacement but her condition got progressively worse and the associated pain was unbearable. Surgery was recommended but she took Myomin and Angiostop instead. After a month, she is happy that her pain has alleviated.

CHI-F Increases Progesterone, Reduces Uterine Bleeding and Pain and Promotes Fertility

The excruciating pain that endometriosis suffers is very debilitating so relief from this pain is essential in effectively managing endometriosis.

Deficiency in progesterone is common in endometriosis and is usually the underlying cause of excessive uterine bleeding and the cramping associated with it. Chi-F can help you with both.

Chi-F can naturally increase progesterone by stimulating the corpus luteum. It also promotes a normal menstrual cycle, reducing abnormal uterine bleeding.

In one study, Chi-F was found to be effective on dysmenorrhea (painful menstruation involving cramps). In the study, 280 women with endometriosis, endometrial dysplasia, abnormal uterine bleeding and myoma were involved. After 3 months on Chi-F, period normalized to less than 7 days and pain was eliminated in 41.07% of patients while improvement of menstrual bleeding and pain was seen in 48.21% of the patients (Figure 2).

In addition, Chi-F is effective for the following:
  • Reduces PMS pain by 90%
  • Reduces Irregular menstruation by 75%
  • Reduces Abnormal uterine bleeding by 93%
Case Reports

D. Hoover, DC from Iowa, had a 15 y/o/f patient who suffered from cramps and other PMS symptoms. After using Chi-F for 3 weeks, her symptoms disappeared. Two years later, she reports that she never experienced any problems with PMS.

N. Khozin, MD from New York, has a 46 y/o/f patient with a history of abnormal uterine bleeding. She usually had menstrual bleeding for 20 days every month. She also has a 3-cm cyst in the left ovary. Two days after starting Myomin and Chi-F, her bleeding stopped. Three months later, she maintains a 5- to 6-day period every month.

H.R., a  19 y/o/f from California, had irregular and heavy periods. Birth control pills did not regulate her cycle. She used progesterone for 1 ½ years but heard about its side effects so she stopped. Two months after she stopped progesterone, she started having continuous bleeding. Then she took Chi-F and Myomin. After only 2 days, her continuous bleeding stopped. After 2 months on both supplements, she maintains a regular 28-day cycle.

SUMMARY

Pain and cramping associated with endometriosis are debilitating and should not be dismissed as “part of the female cycle.” Despite what some may say, hysterectomy is never the answer. In fact, many women still experience pain after hysterectomy. Instead, taking supplements like Myomin and Chi-F can help manage the symptoms of endometriosis. Both of these supplements can reduce pain, cramping and abnormal bleeding in endometriosis patients.

For those who have fertility issues, Chi-F can promote fertility. Moreover, using the F-Scope can help determine the ovulation period to maximize the chance of conceiving. Our next newsletter will discuss the F-Scope and how to improve fertility.

Women with endometriosis have 3 times higher chance of developing ovarian cancer and have double the risk of developing endometrial cancer. Not only that, the risk increases too for breast, colon or lung cancer especially if you have a sibling or 2nd degree relative with any of these cancers. Therefore, it is important to address endometriosis - and especially the estrogen dominance associated with it - in order to reduce this risk.

Diet for Endometriosis patients:
Because endometriosis is an estrogen-fueled condition, it is important to avoid milk and dairy as well as any estrogen-rich foods such as soy.
