Good afternoon Equity Action Team,
We have just a couple updates on opportunities to get involved with Project Connect, as well as the budget process for the City of Austin. Last year it was the critical feedback and pressure applied by community that forced the City into the process to Reimagine Public Safety, and continued engagement will be critical as the process continues to play out. There are also a lot of open jobs, so as always please help us in distributing and sending to anyone you know who might be interested! |

February Equity Action Team Meeting
The February Equity Action Team meeting will be held Saturday, February 20th, from 10:00 AM-1:30 PM.
As a note, I heard from many of you that there were issues previously with accessing the Zoom link. When you receive a message that "only authorized users are allowed" all you need to do is log into a Zoom or Google account and it should let you in. I know this presents a barrier, but we're trying to balance access while also holding the space for you all to feel safe and secure.
If you would like to add this meeting to your calendar, you can do so with these links:

Apply to the Project Connect Community Advisory Committee
The City of Austin, Capital Metro and Austin Transit Partnership are creating an advisory committee to advise all three partners on equity and Project Connect topics.
The advisory committee will include 11 members, including six community members appointed by a nominating committee, and will meet monthly to provide counsel on topics such as:
- Design features of the system, particularly those that are intended to serve people with disabilities or people who need to use the system in different ways (such as parents traveling with strollers)
- Community involvement and communications during the environmental process
- Transit-supportive anti-displacement tools and strategies to deploy
- Creation of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to equity
Learn more about membership qualifications, the appointment process and how to apply at CapMetro.org/Get-Involved. The application is open until February 28, 2020.
