Good morning Equity Action Team,

Just a quick update today, because I wanted to get something out in advance of the RPS Task Force meeting tonight and the Community Listening Session on Saturday.

See below for those updates, as well as some other upcoming events and jobs!
April Equity Action Team Meeting

The April Equity Action Team meeting will be held Saturday, April 17th, from 10:00 AM-1:30 PM.

At the meeting, we will have Housing and Planning presenting on their plan for and gathering feedback on their use of federal funds. Transportation will be presenting on their "Equity Analysis Zones" project, a mapping and data analysis project intended to help City staff in understanding where and how systemic racism impacts Austin's residents.

As a note, I heard from many of you that there were issues previously with accessing the Zoom link. When you receive a message that "only authorized users are allowed" all you need to do is log into a Zoom or Google account and it should let you in. I know this presents a barrier, but we're trying to balance access while also holding the space for you all to feel safe and secure.

We will begin posting these on Facebook going forward, so you can find all the information on this Eventbrite page, or keep an eye on this space as well. We will continue to send out participation details the week of and the day of the meeting.

If you would like to add this meeting to your calendar, you can do so with these links:

LGBTQIA+ Quality of Life Study

The City of Austin LGBTQ Quality of Life Advisory Commission and Equity Office are working with HMA Community Strategies to lead an LGBTQIA+ Quality of Life Study. Among many benefits, this study allows the Commission and City to better understand the community’s strengths and diversity and more effectively advocate for its needs. The study consists of qualitative and quantitative data collection including interviews, town halls, focus groups, and a community survey.

Please see the attachments, which will take you to the LGBTQIA+ Community Survey to ensure your voice is heard! And, please share with your networks.

Townhall on Public Safety: Rescheduled Date!

On May 21, please join us for the People with Disabilities and Policing Public Safety Townhall. This event will specifically center and focus on the experience of people with disabilities with our public safety enforcement agencies, and how the intersection of other oppressions impact this experience. As we work to reimagine and work with community to define public safety, it will be work like this focusing on the multiplying impacts of oppression that are critical to frame our way forward.
