What changes are being made to the Equity Office as a result of the new budget?
  • A comprehensive description of our office's restructuring can be found on page 202 of the budget document
  • A new department, Civic & Business Equity Department (CBED), is being created. This merges the staff of the Equity Office with the Office of Civil Rights and Small Minority Business Resources Department.
  • The Equity Office's Chief Equity Officer previously reported directly to Assistant City Manager Rodney Gonzales. Under this new restructuring, the office will now be an Equity Division.
  • The Equity Division Manager will report to CBED Department Director Edward Campos, who reports to Assistant City Manager Veronica Briseño.
  • The Equity Office will move from its original location on East 11th Street in historic East Austin to the One Texas Center government building on Barton Springs Road.
