Parking in the garage is free, and food/drinks will be provided. We are meeting on the second floor in the outdoor courtyard space. Apply to Independent Review Team (IRT) for the FY2022 Continuum of Care NOFO!

 

Deadline is Sunday, Aug 14th! Members of the Independent Review Team will provide objective review and scoring of all ranked projects submitted for consideration as part of the FY2022 CoC Program NOFO. The IRT will be composed of no more than 16 non-conflicted individuals from CoC stakeholders with at least the following representation present:

  • Person(s) with Lived Experience
  • Leadership Council Representative

Each Project Application will be reviewed and scored by at least three separate IRT members, and the final score for the application will be the average of the scores. IRT members who have lived experience of homelessness will be compensated at a rate of $75 per application scored. Leadership Council will approve the final slate of IRT members. To be considered as a member of the IRT, a nominee must maintain:

  • A commitment to racial equity and reducing racial disparities in the population experiencing homelessness.
  • A commitment to the fair and sufficient distribution of HUD CoC funding to local homeless- serving agencies
  • Availability to participate in the review of at least 5 - 6 project applications.
  • Ability to participate in a fair and equitable process without agency or programmatic preferences.
  • Ability to participate in a respectful, consensus-driven and problem-solving process.
  • Significant knowledge of issues and services related to solutions to homelessness.

 

Please note that individuals who are employees, contractors, or board members of service providers that receive HUD CoC funding are not eligible to serve on the IRT.

Environmental Conservation Information Specialist, City of Austin – The City of Austin’s Watershed Protection Department is hiring a temporary Environmental Conservation Information Specialist. This includes, but is not limited to 1) teaching fifth graders about watersheds, the Edwards Aquifer, and actions students can take to improve water quality in our creeks and springs, 2) working as a team, 3) managing materials such as models, traveling to various sites (ie. schools), and 4) assisting with Watershed Protection Department’s other youth education programs as needed and available. The minimum qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university plus two years of experience in a related field (Master’s degree may substitute for experience up to two years).  Application deadline is August 17th. Program Assistant, PEAS  PEAS helps schools take learning outside by partnering directly with teachers and providing cross-curricular academic programming in gardens and green spaces on campuses throughout the Austin area. Their lessons are focused on science, math, and/or reading, the environment, SEL, health and nutrition. PEAS is currently seeking an outgoing and energetic program assistant to support our work at Cunningham Elementary. This is a (9 month) full-time position ~35-40 hours/week from Sept 2022 through May of 2023 (standard hours will be 7:30-3:30pm M-F). Apply here. Environmental Program Coordinator, City of Austin – The City of Austin’s Transportation Department is hiring a permanent full-time Environmental Program Coordinator. This position will play a pivotal role in the Office of Sustainability, working with many internal and external groups. The primary focus of this position will support City-wide efforts to improve air quality, reduce our impact on climate change, and prepare for a changing climate. Apply here. Public Health Planner II, City of Austin – The City of Austin’s Public Health Department is hiring a permanent full-time Public Health Planner II. The Public Health Planner II will research proposed alternatives for providing public health and/or human services. This position will also evaluate ongoing or proposed programs to determine efficiency, cost effectiveness, and program utilization. Field Organizer, Texas Campaign for the Environment  The key responsibility for Central Texas Field Organizers is conducting membership recruitment, fundraising and letter-writing drives within the community, primarily through COVID-safe door-to-door canvassing. When Organizers are able to demonstrate proficiency in their core responsibilities, they will have opportunities to spend work time taking on other tasks, which could include research, preparing for direct actions, lobby days, digital organizing, and assisting in activist and donor development. The City of Austin Housing and Planning Department (HPD) is seeking a Planner Principal to lead an interdisciplinary team in support of housing affordability efforts.

The person would:

  • supervise full time professional staff
  • lead and perform research and analysis to inform decision making
  • develop and evaluate proposals to further housing affordability and mitigate displacement
  • effectively build relationships with people who are impacted by City plans and policies
  • collaborate with diverse communities through various planning processes to elevate and promote racial equity
  • manage consultant contracts
  • respond to high level inquiries from media and public
  • regularly communicate with City Council, Boards and Commissions, other City Departments, and community members.

AISD is hiring!
 
The Utility Conservation Technician (2 positions) is responsible for performing regular building surveys/audit walk-throughs to check for program compliance issues and look for additional energy and water conservation opportunities as guided by the Energy and Water Manager and the Energy Conservation Specialist. The technician will use specialized software to record various instances of faculty and staff participation in the program. The technician will visit each AISD campus a minimum of three times during the school year and will re­spond to targeted site visits as directed. 
 
 
Youth Rise Texas, an Austin, Texas based non-profit organization seeks its next Co-Executive Director to continue to execute and grow its strategic plan. Over the next 5 years the organization will pursue many goals. The Co-ED will work closely with their fellow Co-ED as a partner but will fully own a body of work. The Co-ED will continue to pursue the organization's primary goals over the next 5+ years. The division of work may be based on the new Co-ED's particular strengths and experiences.
