The Equity Action Team (EAT) is a coalition of community members and City of Austin staff focused on advancing racial equity in our communities through partnerships with City departments, non-profits, philanthropic entities and community-based groups.

 

The EAT meetings are dedicated to critical discussions and strategizing on how to best improve the quality of life for most directly impacted communities in Austin. Join the EAT and find more information on the dashboard.

 

Everyone is welcome to join the EAT! As a member, your responsibility is to attend and bring your community with you. During our meetings, we hear from community members and City staff to understand community needs and City projects and work together to produce better outcomes for all.

❤️ Please join us in remembrance of our friend and colleague, Bryan Garcia ❤️

Good evening EAT family,

I'm writing to inform you that November/December 2024 EAT Meeting on Wednesday, December 4th has been cancelled. 

It is with a saddened heart that we share this information from allgo about our friend and colleague, Bryan Garcia.
We hope that you'll join us along with our beautiful allgo family tomorrow evening, Wednesday, December 4th, from 6pm to 8pm to gather in Bryan's memory at 701 Tillery St. # A-1.

"With a heavy heart, we acknowledge the passing of our beloved Program Manager, Bryan Artemio Garcia, into the ancestral plane where he will join others from the allgo community such as long time allgo Artist in Residence and friend Shay Youngblood and allgo founder Saul Gonzalez. Bryan has been with allgo and has impacted our communities and programs for the past 5 years with his kindness and consideration. Our correspondence through our newsletters was usually written by him. We are blessed to have witnessed his growth into a thoughtful leader who was always willing to help and consistently possessed an attitude of gratitude. Bryan was passionate about helping others and cultivating healthy relationships, and liberating other queer and trans folx of color to take the same path by pushing back against systems never meant to serve us through conversation and discussion. 
 
In a message to one of our networks, previous Executive Director of allgo, Priscilla Hale, wrote: “At this time, we have no additional information regarding the circumstances of his sudden passing, and the family is also seeking answers. Bryan was a loving and kind person, and he will be dearly missed. His caring nature will never be forgotten. I remember his excitement and dedication upon joining allgo; he worked hard, showed up consistently, and made significant contributions to allgo and Communities of Color United. I know each of you have your own relationship with Bryan, and I am holding you all in my thoughts during this difficult time.” We will be holding space for folks to gather in Bryan's memory this Wednesday, December 4, from 6-8pm at 701 Tillery St. #A-1 please join us.
