LEARNING FROM HISTORY
We're taking a look back and drew inspiration from the 2018 exhibit "Juntos/Together: Black and Brown Activism in Austin, TexasFrom 1970-83".
You can read the article here, covering the exhibit, "Juntos/Together" written by Acacia Coronado in 2018. The exhibit's content was curated by Alan Garcia, a local historian known nationwide for his Instagram, ATX Barrio Archive, and Rachel Winston, a Black diaspora archivist at UT. Above is one of the photos displayed at the exhibit.

Foster Care Research Interview Sign-Up

ECHO, UT, and Change 1 are partnering to do an IRB-approved study on the intersection of foster care and homelessness. Local and national data show that aging out of the foster care system can be a strong predictor of experiencing homelessness as an adult. As such, we’re looking to interview youth with lived experience of both the foster care system and homelessness to see what local gaps they’ve experienced in services and supports.

If you know of anyone 18 – 25 years old who might be interested,

please send them this sign-up form.

All interviews will be one hour long and held either at ECHO’s office (please see my signature below for the address) or via Zoom. Interviewees will be compensated with a $50 virtual Amazon gift card.

If you have any questions about the study, please email myself or Dr. Barbara Ball (Barbara.Ball@austin.utexas.edu).

The City of Austin is seeking applications from qualified individuals to serve on the three member City of Austin Firefighters’, Police Officers’, and Emergency Medical Services Personnel’s Civil Service Commission.

The time commitment for Commission business is anticipated at 1 - 3 hours a month. Commissioners serve on a voluntary basis.

Application Process
Interested applicants may complete a City of Austin Boards and Commissions application online at https://austintexas.granicus.com/boards/forms/385/apply. Please include a resume and cover letter with your application.

This position will remain open until filled.
