LGBTQ+ Grief & Bereavement Program
At our semi-annual congregational meeting on January 29th the congregation voted unanimously to approve providing a $10,000 grant to Care Partners Hospice & Palliative Care to support an LGBTQ+ specific grief and bereavement support program. As this program gets underway, we will have opportunities to hear from Care Partners staff about the impact this program will have in the community. For now, please see the flyer below and share with anyone you think might be interested.

The ELCA Task Force on Studies for Civic Life and Faith has released a study curriculum for use throughout our church. Four Lutheran churches in Washington County: Community of ChristChurch, Emanuel, Calvary, and Shepherd of the Valley, have joined forces to share this curriculum and facilitate conversation with one another about religious liberty and the proper role of the church in relation to government. This study includes biblical work, teaching videos, and respectful discussion. We invite everyone to participate!
We have been gathering on Tuesday evenings, from 7 to 8 pm, at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, 17625 NW Cornell Road, Beaverton, 97006.
The Fourth and Final Session is this Tuesday, October 10th.
We hope to see you there! |

Coming Home to Earth. Dr. Brocker is especially concerned about what will motivate people of faith to take action. Love of God, love of neighbor, love of creation and love of self are classic core values in our faith tradition that can motivate us to act to address pressing ecological issues.
