September Queer Grace Gathering at Spirit of Grace, Beaverton. Sunday, September 10 from 7-8:30 pm. This month Paxton Stewart, a queer seminarian, will reflect on their faith as it relates to their sexuality and gender orientation. All are welcome whether you are queer or straight/cis. Refreshments will be provided. RSVPs are appreciated, but not required. |

The ELCA Task Force on Studies for Civic Life and Faith has released a study curriculum for use throughout our church. Four Lutheran churches in Washington County: Community of ChristChurch, Emanuel, Calvary, and Shepherd of the Valley, are joining forces to share this curriculum and facilitate conversation with one another about religious liberty and the proper role of the church in relation to government. This four-session study will include biblical work, teaching videos, and respectful discussion. We invite everyone to participate!
We will gather on four Tuesday evenings, from 7 to 8pm, at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, 17625 NW Cornell Road, Beaverton, 97006. The dates for these gatherings will be September 19th & 26th, and October 3rd & 10th. We hope to see you there! |

Oregon Synod Lay School of Theology fall course: "Coming Home to Earth: An Evangelical Lutheran Perspective on Faith and Ecology." Dr. Mark Brocker will lead this eight-week live online course based on his book,
Coming Home to Earth. Dr. Brocker is especially concerned about what will motivate people of faith to take action. Love of God, love of neighbor, love of creation and love of self are classic core values in our faith tradition that can motivate us to act to address pressing ecological issues.
