May 2021 TEXTtalks Bible Conversation

Thursday, April 29, 7-8:30pm

Zoom Link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/88456309441?pwd=Qm85dzZpamw0eGY2RkJOMnlUSWIyQT09

Are you interested in getting a head start on engaging with the scripture texts that form the basis for preaching each Sunday morning in worship?

Join us on Thursday, April 29th, at 7pm, for the next edition of TEXTtalks… a monthly conversation on the texts we hear in worship. Join me and others as we read through the upcoming Bible stories and ask ourselves… what do we notice? what do we wonder about?

In this upcoming session, we will discuss the following stories for the month of April. These include texts from the book of Acts and from the letter to the Galatians:

Texts to discuss and corresponding date for worship service:
Acts 15:1-18 Council at Jerusalem: May 2
Galatians 1:13-17; 2:11-21 Living by Faith: May 9
Galatians 3:1-9, 23-29 One in Christ: May 16
Acts 2:1-18 Pentecost: May 23 🔥

I look forward to this opportunity to engage with God’s word in community.

I invite you to read these texts ahead of time and come ready to join the discussion.

NOTE: After our April conversation the monthly TEXTtalks Bible Conversations will pause over the summer and resume in early September.

Peace,

Pastor David

OR Synod Assembly events open to all
There are two ways for anyone to participate in Synod Assembly this year:
  1. You can watch Assembly (April 30-May 1) live on their YouTube channel
  2. You can attend the virtual cluster dinner on Friday, April 30, 6:30-8 pm.
Cluster dinners are open to everyone in the synod. Each cluster will gather virtually to share a meal, nurture relationships, and wrestle with the question:

What might true reparations for our participation in racist systems look like for the Oregon Synod?

We recognize that each cluster and each region across this state has its own set of stories that are useful in unveiling our history of white supremacy, racism and oppression. For these cluster dinner conversations, we will explore together just one of those stories: the Oregon Synod office land story.

Online gatherings open to all:
Crafts.  Coffee.  Connection.
Every Saturday
10am - noon

A weekly online opportunity to share in fellowship, hear how other folks are doing, a chance to share crafts, home improvement projects, cooking tips/recipes, book recommendations, whatever you would like!
