ChristChurch Upcoming Worship Schedule:

May 1: Zoom Worship

May 8: Zoom Worship

May 15: Zoom Worship - Service of the Word (no communion.) Pastor David will be at the Oregon Synod Assembly.

Council President Suze Engbretson will be our worship host with a pre-recorded message from Bishop Laurie Larson Caesar, Bishop of the Oregon Synod of the ELCA.

Saturday, May 21: Hybrid Worship (in-person & online) at Shepherd of the Valley, 5pm. YouTube Livestream will be available.

May 29: Zoom Worship - Service of the Word (no communion)

Guest preacher and worship leader will be Deacon Sue Best.

Deacon Sue serves at St. Matthew Lutheran Church as Deacon of Pastoral Visitation and at Salem Hospital as a Chaplain.

June 5: Zoom Worship - Pentecost Sunday + Reconciling in Christ Sunday with guest preacher, Shannon Walton-Clark

Shannon (they, them) serves as the Chairperson for the Westside Queer Resource Center Board. They are also Chief of Staff for Beaverton Mayor Lacey Beaty, and serve on the Vestry (Church Council) for Christchurch Episcopal Church in Lake Oswego.

June 12: Zoom Worship & Annual Meeting after Worship

Year in review from church council, vote on council slate, annual budget, and more!

There will not be a Sunday morning, May 22 Zoom service. A recording of the Livestream will be available on YouTube.
COVID protocols will be announced closer to the service.

Community of ChristChurch Benevolence Team Update April 2022

What is the Benevolence Team?

The Benevolence Team is responsible for proposing the recipient(s) for our quarterly benevolence giving, at the end of each quarter.

How do we arrive at the amount to donate?

The benevolence fund amount is based on general giving. 4% of general giving is calculated each quarter. The Benevolence team then meets to discuss needs in the community and make a designation for the special gifts. Your giving to ChristChurch also impacts local organizations with financial gifts.

2021 Contributions and Recipients:

Q1: HomePlate Youth Services $452.57 & Bienestar OR $452.57

Q2: St. Matthew Food Pantry $786.94

Q3: Project Homeless Connect Washington County $1,058.00

Q 4: Direct relief to victims of Hillsboro fire through the Hillsboro Community Foundation. 100% of the money donated will go directly to assist victims. $887

2022 Contributions and Recipients:

Q1: Greater Good NW to assist with housing applications that will benefit our neighbors $938

Who is on the Team?

There are about 10 volunteers on the team.

How can I get involved?

The team meets on Zoom and via email. If you are interested in joining the team, please contact Rachael in the church office.

Reconciling in Christ Team

Monthly Meeting

We are planning the Reconciling Sunday Worship Service at ChristChurch for early June (near our RIC Anniversary). We will use our next few first Thursday evening meetings to plan that event. If you have questions or would like to get more involved, please email Sallie Bullock.

You are invited for in-person Saturday morning coffee hour. Start your weekend on a positive note and visit with folks in person before church on Sunday.

Get Involved

Community Events:

The ISing Choir will perform at the Reser at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 30, and at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 1. Tickets are on sale online.

Typically, the choir's programs are titled "Out of the Americas." The choir travels to an international destination to play music from the United States, then brings that culture's music back to perform at home.

For the upcoming show, ISing will perform "Stuck in the Americas" instead, said conductor and artistic director Stephen Galván. The choir has been practicing for months — even online.

As with all of ISing's concerts, the choir will donate 100% of the proceeds. For the April 30 and May 1 shows, the Washington County-based HomePlate Youth Services will receive the funds. Get tickets here.

Online Worship Logistics:

The online doors to our Zoom worship will open at 9:00am. From 9am to 9:30am, the worship space will be open for folks to gather and get settled in. Our worship service will begin at 9:30am. Communion is part of our worship. Full details on how to join our online worship are found here.
