Sunday Online Worship Logistics:

Update on Pastor David
Dear friends,

I want to thank you all for your prayers and support for me and Rhonda (and Iris) during this time and update you on where things stand. I saw a PA in the Orthopedics department at OHSU on Tuesday. Since this was my first opportunity to talk with someone about my injury since being in the ER two weeks prior, I was eager to find out how I am doing. The good news is that I am on the right path toward healing and I have been assured that there is currently no indication that surgery is needed. I just need to continue to wear the sling and take it easy on my body (with some PT thrown in) for the next several weeks; no driving for a while and definitely no bicycling for a good long while. It will be several weeks (2-3 months) before I’m fully healed. In other words, this is the best possible outcome I could hope for considering the damage done to my body.

I returned back to a full-time work schedule this week and we’ll see how it goes. Next week I will be taking some already scheduled time off for my daughter Jasmine’s wedding and some vacation with our family. As for Iris, she is at the veterinary clinic today to see if she has healed enough to have her splint removed after wearing it for two weeks. She is in good spirits and hops around like she has good sense. Fortunately, her meds include a sedative that helps slow down her husky "extra-ness!"

Rhonda and I can’t say enough about how well we have felt buoyed up by your love and care for us during these last couple of weeks. A special thank you goes out to our church council and to everyone who stepped up to worship and pastoral care leadership in my absence… Michael Gross, Inga Henderson, Violet Thetford, Cindy Kinnie, Steve Delamarter and Deacon Bonnie Beadles-Bohling. And of course, I give thanks to our God who is the source of all healing and wholeness!

Blessings,

Pastor David

Worship Transition Team Update + Survey

The Worship Transition Team is still looking for your feedback on determining how ChristChurch worship will be conducted in the future. The situation with COVID 19 in our community is fluid and recommendations are evolving.

The team is specifically asking folks that have not been attending Zoom Church to provide their feedback on returning to in-person church. Take the survey here.

Look for another update from the team in future Faith News.

Church Council Updates

Prayer for Putting On a Face Mask
The Right Reverend Richard Bott is the current Moderator of the United Church of Canada. He composed this beautiful prayer for when we put our masks on and has given permission for it to be shared (asking only that we attribute it to him).
Prayer for Putting On a Face Mask

Creator God, as I prepare to go into the world, help me to see the sacramental nature of wearing this cloth. Let it be a tangible and visible way of living love for my neighbors, as I love myself.

Christ Jesus, since my lips will be covered, uncover my heart, that people would see my smile in the crinkles around my eyes. Since my voice may be muffled, help me to speak clearly, not only with my words, but with my actions.

Holy Spirit, as the elastic touches my ears, remind me to listen carefully and caringly to all those I meet. May this simple piece of cloth be shield and banner, and may each breath that it holds be filled with your love.

In your name and in that love I pray. Amen.

Rev. Richard Bott
