Pastor David’s Gmail account was hacked!

I recently discovered that a ChristChurch member received an email from me requesting assistance. The problem is that I did not send any such email. Fortunately, the person who received it saw that it wasn’t my real Gmail account. If you receive an email from me asking you for assistance of any kind, please disregard it. If you have any questions about an email allegedly coming from me, please check with me directly by calling me at 503-617-9526, ext. 3. Also, please know that I will never send you an email asking for money or gift cards or anything like that. Lastly, I have since changed my password, so hopefully, the issue is resolved for the time being.

If you have any emails to or from either of these emails, delete them from your inbox and/or sent box.

LEAP - Love, Educate, Act, and Peace

Shepard of the Valley and Community of Christchurch are teaming up with ELOHEH for these events.  

 

For the first 3 events (July 14, 28 and Aug 11) we will follow the following agenda:

 

6-6:30pm Games and activities provided by our Parish Ed Committee

6:30-7pm Dinner 

7-8pm LEAP learning event

We are glad to be collaborating on this with Community of ChristChurch as well. Theologically, this is a fascinating topic. Land often seems like just a setting or environment, or the backdrop of a stage. But we also observe that land is something people value: economically, emotionally, and we rely on land for our survival. We might not often think of land as an important part of our individual relationship with God, but how we live on the land, with our neighbors, and the resources God provides is very much part of our life of faith. I'm looking forward to this journey together friends!

 

We are well on our way to collecting enough items to make 100 kits in October.  Thank you all for your wonderful and generous support.

We still need some items to complete the kits.

Lightweight jackets with hoods (or hooded sweaters) - 16

Hand towels - 8 ( preferred dark colors)

Bar soap - 84 (Kirkland or Dove and on sale at Costco right now)

If you purchase items please bring them to our in-person worship at Shepherd of the Valley on July 16th.  You can also contact Sherrie Wade or Cindy Kinnie for drop-off or pick-up. 

If you are unable to go shopping or just want to donate money to this great project, we will welcome any donations and you can access this through our online giving portal. We will go out and purchase the items that are still needed, as well as help, cover the shipping cost.

The Baby Care Kits are given to Lutheran World Relief.  Many participating churches come together with all their boxes of kits which are loaded onto a truck and then shipped.

During the Annual Meeting, Council President Suze Engbretson, Council Member Steve Delamarter, and Pastor David gave a presentation that laid out a proposal for what the next year might look like for our congregation. If you were unable to attend the meeting or would like a refresher on that presentation, we encourage you to watch it here.

So now we invite you to ask yourselves the question:

How would I like to participate?

Here are a few of the ways you can engage in this work:

1. Do some online research to discover potential partners that you can pass along to the rest of the congregation. What are you passionate about? What are the needs that you see in your community? Simply drop a few key words into your favorite search engine and see what emerges. If something catches your eye, share it with the rest of us during our after-worship chats.

2. Join a team of 2 to 3 people to scout and vet potential partners. Attending coffee chats/other events would be part of this.

3. If you are not feeling ready to commit to being part of a team, consider attending the after-worship coffee chat’s to hear about possible partners and attend/participate in zoom meetings or in-person opportunities to connect to possible partners.

4. Send thank you notes, and assist with other tasks that you can do from home.

5. Pray. Pray for our congregation, for the surrounding communities, for the teams, and for careful discernment.
