Pastor David’s Gmail account was hacked!
I recently discovered that a ChristChurch member received an email from me requesting assistance. The problem is that I did not send any such email. Fortunately, the person who received it saw that it wasn’t my real Gmail account. If you receive any email from me asking you for assistance of any kind, please disregard. If you have any question about an email allegedly coming from me, please check with me directly by calling me at 503-617-9526, ext. 3. Also, please know that I will never send you an email asking for money or gift cards or anything like that. Lastly, I have since changed my password, so hopefully the issue is resolved for the time being.

Oregon Synod Reparations Team Hybrid Open House - July 13, 7-8 pm! Register here for Zoom link! Come and hear details about with their work which includes:

Land stories - discovering and spreading stories like the Oregon Synod's Emanuel Land Story and Peace First Lutheran in Astoria’s Land Story.

Antiracism - This year's 2022 Synod Assembly passed a resolution to form an Oregon Synod Antiracism Network.

Reparations - Working on passing resolutions and memorials defining current reparations work, listening to and building relationships with communities who’ve been harmed, and listening for and assisting with ideas of how to determine appropriate reparations.

Policies and procedures - reviewing and making suggestions to the bishop and Synod Council.

Our Reconciling in Christ Team is taking a bit of a Summer Break!

We are well on our way to collecting enough items to make 100 kits in October. Thank you all for your wonderful and generous support.
We still need some items to complete the kits.
Lightweight jackets with hoods (or hooded sweaters) - 16
Hand towels - 8 ( preferred dark colors)
Bar soap - 84 (Kirkland or Dove and on sale at Costco right now)
If you purchase items please bring them to our in-person worship at Shepherd of the Valley on July 16th. You can also contact Sherrie Wade or Cindy Kinnie for drop-off or pick-up.
If you are unable to go shopping or just want to donate money to this great project, we will welcome any donations and you can access this through our online giving portal. We will go out and purchase the items that are still needed, as well as help, cover the shipping cost.
The Baby Care Kits are given to Lutheran World Relief. Many participating churches come together with all their boxes of kits which are loaded onto a truck and then shipped.

Birthdays and Anniversaries
Rachel started compiling birthdays and anniversaries last year, the only months we don't have any in are July and August. If you are celebrating a birthday or anniversary these months, we would love to celebrate with you, please send an email to Rhonda P. admin@comchristchurch.org

JOURNEY of DISCOVERY
During the Annual Meeting, Council President Suze Engbretson, Council Member Steve Delamarter, and Pastor David gave a presentation that laid out a proposal for what the next year might look like for our congregation. If you were unable to attend the meeting or would like a refresher on that presentation, we encourage you to watch it here.
So now we invite you to ask yourselves the question:
How would I like to participate?
Here are a few of the ways you can engage in this work:
1. Do some online research to discover potential partners that you can pass along to the rest of the congregation. What are you passionate about? What are the needs that you see in your community? Simply drop a few key words into your favorite search engine and see what emerges. If something catches your eye, share it with the rest of us during our after-worship chats.
2. Join a team of 2 to 3 people to scout and vet potential partners. Attending coffee chats/other events would be part of this.
3. If you are not feeling ready to commit to being part of a team, consider attending the after-worship coffee chat’s to hear about possible partners and attend/participate in zoom meetings or in-person opportunities to connect to possible partners.
4. Send thank you notes, and assist with other tasks that you can do from home.
5. Pray. Pray for our congregation, for the surrounding communities, for the teams, and for careful discernment.
