Beloveds,
When we began reading Weird Church a year and a half ago, little did we know just how weird it could get! We are living in weird times and as a community we are doing our best to respond in appropriately weird ways. So, beginning this Sunday, March 22nd, we are trading physical space for online Zoom space. Zoom is an online meeting platform that lends itself well to gathering a small faith community like ours together online for worship.
To prepare for this, we have had a team of folks this past week doing their best to connect with you all to see how you are doing and to help you think through what you might need in the way of technology to be ready for Sunday morning. This will be a new experience for ALL of us. This will be a season of experimentation, of trying new things, of learning as we go… together.
You might be a friend or member of ChristChurch who is receiving this invitation through our Faith News e-mail newsletter; or you may be someone who learned about this from a friend or colleague or family member; perhaps you found about this on Facebook or another social media platform. No matter how you are hearing about us, you are invited to our very first Online Worship Service on Sunday, March 22nd. The virtual doors to our Zoom worship will open at 9:00am.
To enter using your computer, please click on this link… https://zoom.us/j/397068541
Please consider copying the link above and pasting it into a sticky note or other comparable application on your internet device, so you can easily access it come Sunday morning.
If you are not able to join worship via your personal computer, you are welcome to join using your phone. Simply call this number… (253) 215 8782, follow the prompt to enter the Meeting ID: 397 068 541, and you will find yourself in our Zoom worship space.
From 9am to 9:30am, the worship space will be open for folks to gather and get settled in. Our worship service will begin at 9:30am.
Holy communion will be a part of our online worship, so we encourage everyone to prepare by putting together your own communion set from whatever you have handy in your kitchens and pantries.
Be creative!
For instance, the cup could be wine, juice, water, etc.
The bread could be actual bread, a cracker, a tortilla, tortilla chip, etc.
Please have these items nearby and handy when you join us online.
In this time of social distancing and isolation, it is vitally important for our physical, mental and spiritual well being that we continue to find ways to stay connected. We hope that this online worship can be just one of the ways we stay connected as Community of ChristChurch. I look forward to seeing you in worship this Sunday!
God’s peace,
Pastor David
