Sacred Circle Update, May 2021
During a recent church council meeting, the Sacred Circle group was asked to develop a list of proposed or continuing events for the next fiscal year in order that we could include them in the budget process. During the subsequent discussions, we were able to come up with the following list of events for the coming year. You will note that most of the events are ones we have been doing for a number of years. There are a few added events in recognition of our newer relationships with IMIRJ and WQRC.
|
|
|
Due to this preplanning effort, we were able to present a request for budgeted funding. You will find this in the proposed budget at line 400.07 Congregational Event Expense. There are also enough monies in this allocation for additional events such as guest speakers, some space rental, joint ventures with other community partners, etc.
If you have any questions about these plans, please contact Tracy Litterer, Suze Engbretson, or Violet Thetford.

Lutheran World Relief Baby Care Kit updates
Shirley Dinger and Linda Lusky continue to collect items for Lutheran World Relief Baby Care Kits. Before the pandemic ChristChurch annually collected, sorted, and sent items to Lutheran World Relief (via an Ingathering of west side churches) for distribution around Easter. Even though there are no firm details on when the next Ingathering can safely take place, Shirley and Linda have not let the pandemic slow them down in their collections.
Shirley described the work as:
So much fun!! Now I have to cut the tags off & sort them!! The lady that runs the sale always gives us a free box of baby clothes. Years ago, I asked her & she has continued to do it!! And this time she gave us 2 boxes. It is such a worthy project. Thinks of all the babies we have clothed!! It warms your heart. I’m really not sure what we need because I haven’t counted the items. My living room is filled with boxes.
We have—Blankets—64; PJ’s-50; Oneies-89: Jackets- 55; Hats-35; Socks-81!! That’s the count from our Monday shopping!!
There is not a specific ask for assitance right now, but you can reach out to Shirley Dinger for further information. Details on the next Ingathering and collection will be published as they become available.

Sacred Circle is a Community Action and Community Service network of interfaith people who are committed to following the words of Jesus.
What does Sacred Circle do?
We research articles, legislative bills, commentary, and news reports on current events to identify those areas where we might testify, write letters, make phone calls, and other actions that may lead to social justice for all people.

Nutrition questions? I've got answers 😀
Friday, May 7th at noon
Join me for this FREE Q&A session the first Friday of every month. This is your opportunity to ask me any nutrition-related questions you may have!
Curious about new nutrition trends? Myths vs facts? How you can support your health through nutrition? Just ask!
This month I'll be talking about how stress can affect nutrition (and how nutrition can affect stress!). I'll talk for about 10 min about nutrition and stress, then open it up for your questions!
Don't miss this opportunity to meet with a nutritionist for FREE! And it's virtual - so you can participate no matter where you live!
Bring your lunch if needed (we meet at noon PDT). See you next Friday, May 7th 😀
