Collecting winter clothing for vulnerable groups |
|
|
ChristChurch volunteers are leading us in collecting items for the local homeless folks (currently in the fairgrounds), Lifeline Connections in Vancouver, WA and HomePlate (
HomePlate is Washington County's only non-profit provider of drop-in centers and street outreach for young people experiencing homelessness.).
They are collecting the following:
Socks, cold-weather clothing, blankets, coats sweaters, jackets, scarves, gloves/mittens at least thru December.
In addition, we are looking for funny, cute, inspirational socks for Christmas for HomePlate youth!
Items collected will be divided out and given to three groups listed above.
Three places to drop off donations:
1) Violet Thetford’s condo: on the bench in front
2) Jane and Paul Jackson house: front door
3) Michael and Eileen Gross house: front door
Contact Rachael in the office for the above addresses. You could also try using our online member directory.

Bring Yourself – Bring a Fellow Member - Bring a Team!
To Register, email your name & congregation name to beprepared@oregonsynod.org
As we have learned over these last months, Oregon does and will continue to experience disasters and times of emergency. As people of faith, we are called to be ready to provide comfort and assistance to those in need. How do we get ready? By having a response plan in place….by starting NOW to learn what we as local congregations can do to help—including creative ideas for responding in this time of COVID.
The OR Synod Disaster Preparedness & Response Network will offer regular gatherings, resources, trainings, and team development activities to help you form a team and engage your congregation. Please join us as we begin the preparedness journey together! |

Introducing the ChristChurch Classifieds webpage |
|
|
As we continue to navigate our uncertain world, one thing that is clear - our community connection is vital. Christchurch now has another way to nurture community connections...a free online classified page!
The classified page is designed to be a helpful resource for those within the ChristChurch community.
We accept a variety of postings: job opportunities, free items, yard sales, services, looking for house help, etc.
Other examples:
- If you or a friend/family run a small business this is a great place to post your services.
- Cleaning out your closets or garage and want to offer those items to your ChristChurch friends?
- Have a bounty of vegetables or flowers from your garden?
- Hosting a virtual event and want to invite the greater ChristChurch community?
You can read more about the page and post an ad by visiting this webpage.
A final note, this page is a work in progress and an experiment. Please contact me if you have any suggestions. The next month will be a soft launch, allowing me to work out any tech or content issues. But please share it with friends and family! We need people to submit to know how well the page is working.
Thank you!
