Dear Friends,
I am so grateful to everyone who contributed to supporting our Kenyan friend, Joseph, in his time of need with your financial gifts. Thank you especially to Steve Delamarter, for facilitating the transfer of funds. Together we raised $1,575.00. I continue to be in awe of the generosity and faithfulness of this faith community.
Here is Joseph’s response:
I am really overwhelmed by the love gift by the church members. I never thought of such a blessing coming. May God bless you for thinking of me in a such a way. To all members of Christchurch, may the Lord bless them dearly. I truly joined a caring and loving church. As a way of Thanksgiving to God, I will set some funds as a memorial to my mother by visiting an elderly woman I have been supporting for the last four years together with my mother.
God’s peace,
Pastor David

Come and learn about the dying process, what happens shortly after death, and advance planning.
We'll also explore the legacies we want to leave, knowing our own grief, being present for others' grief, and related rituals.
This on-line course will meet on eight Tuesday evenings from 6:30-8 pm (Pacific Time) beginning September 20.
Course participants and/or their congregations are encouraged to donate, as they are able, on a sliding scale between $20-$160, but donations are not required to participate.

Faith and Democracy in Crisis:
Resisting Authoritarianism, Protecting Human Dignity,
a seven-week series hosted by Spirit of Grace, Beaverton. Primary presenters will be Rev. Dr. Brian Brandt and Rev. Dr. Janet Parker, with a visit from guest presenter Dr. Anna Floerke Scheid of Duquesne University. Come to learn about the political and theological dimensions of the anti-democratic insurgency attempting to take over the federal government. They'll bring this authoritarian insurgency into conversation with foundational Christian teachings on church and society from Catholic, Lutheran, and United Church of Christ traditions and formulate visions for Christian resistance that protects human dignity as created in the image of God. They’ll conclude with opportunities to carry that vision forward into action through ecclesial and civic networks.
Sessions will take place on Zoom from 7:00 - 8:15 pm on seven Wednesdays from September 14 to October 26.
Each session will include time for presentation, small and full group discussion, and spiritual practice to sustain us through challenging times. Register here. Additional questions can be directed to PastorRobyn@spiritofgracepdx.org. |
