Church Council Update
Your church council has been meeting twice a month to keep up with all the changes in our world and how the church can adapt, support our members, and worship together. A current project the council is working on is identifying and choosing priorities for 2020/2021. The priority brainstorm and discussion have been taking place over many weeks and have been fruitful.
The next steps will be to choose which priorities to work on now and which ones are tabled for a further date. Much prayer and intention are going into these decisions. As the Council works through these ideas and prioritizes, we also look forward to the time when we can share and gather input from the community.
Another update is that last weekend your Council unanimously moved to donate $717 from the budgeted local benevolence fund to the local Red Cross to assist with the wildfire crisis. As always, please hold the council in your prayers. Stay tuned to Faith News for further updates. |

Please join St Matthew’s Equity and Justice Group for a Zoom presentation on Sunday evening, September 20th. It will be a very educational opportunity to learn something new about your understanding of Oregon history!
Did you know...
- Until 1926, Oregon’s Constitution prohibited African Americans from living in the state?
- Oregon once had the largest Ku Klux Klan, per capita, in the nation?
- As late as the 1960s, cities, and towns throughout our state had "sundown laws," preventing African Americans and Asians from staying overnight?
“If there is to be reconciliation, first there must be truth.” ~Timothy B. Tyson
Sunday, September 20th from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm. It’s a 90-minute presentation with a 30 minute Q&A following. The Zoom link is: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/86997400927?pwd=bDdHWmhDUythWWJ6STBvL2xLZ0R3UT09
Join us to learn about Oregon’s history of discrimination, segregation, and displacement. This presentation begins with the Oregon Trail’s impact on Native populations and takes us on a historical journey through today. Discover how today’s challenges have roots deep in our history.
The presentation is sponsored by St Matthew’s Equity and Justice Group who invite you to share this invitation with others. There is no audience limit for this event and no reservation is needed. Invite your friends and family! It’s a conversation to share. |
